Albert's injury was a very serious one, which led him to say that he was concerned of his future. The only update I have found is his saying that he "pans to be ready for the start of the season."
That does not tell us a lot. The team knows much more, and has sad nothing

IF he is not good to go, how does that change what the team should do in this draft? Where is the break point, at 4 games, 6, 8, or more?

I have no facts to go on, and it's all hypothetical speculation.

This is why I am surprised we did not go after a starting G with OT capability in FA.

Har to say what we knew before, and what we know now. Maybe things have changed which caused us to be looking for a WR now. Again, no facts for this, just some concerns which I've had since the injury.

I personally think we may very well draft a player with T/G versatility with our first pick, if the right player is on the board.

Until told otherwise, I have no reason to believe he won't be ready as scheduled.

(Maybe I'm just whistling past the boneyard, but that's the stance I'm taking)

Sheriff, Collins, and Irving are all players that can play both tackle and guard. Irving can even play center. I know choosing an OL in round 1 isn't very popular but it might be our best pick.

Apparently he has been progressing well and should be ready!

I would not unless Albert was not coming back anytime soon.

Aside from QB, there are 4 positions of impact, and money, in the NFL. In no order, they are WR, LT, CB, and pass rusher.

As of now, we have an aging Grimes, and an injury prone Taylor (who has not looked VG) at CB. The next option is Davis.

At WR, we have Landry, Stills, and Matthews at starters. No one is worth mentioning for #4.

At LT, IF Albert is not ready, we have Fox. OR, we can always go back to James and Dallas changing positions.

NOT good options here at any position.

We were in a bad way last year and the offensive line was a priority but that being said Albert getting injured should have come as no surprise as he has had injuru issues all years except the year before we signed him. So far considering his injury and the number of players that have left we are a much thinner and in some cases less talented team at certain positions compared to last year. The draft can only fill so many holes so quickly. We need a threat wide reciever, another 2 quaility offensive linemen, middle linebacker starting tight end and starting cornerback and I would say another DT in the rotation.

This is why the 1st rounder may well end up being Brandon Scherff or La'el Collins....depending of course on his prognosis.

If we didn't also need a guard pretty badly I'd agree with you. After the last two seasons of watching our QB try to play from his ass, I won't complain if we go o-line in the first. Not my first choice, but I don't have a problem with it either.

If his future is in question to a serious degree....if there is a high probability of him not being ready...we very well may have to do go O-line early to get a starter with position flexibility.

In that scenario WR would be a likely round 2 target..or they could sign Jennings to start....and take a shot later in the draft on the 3rd day prospects...like Conley, Diggs etc etc etc
