Voice your opinions here on who is the better quarterback...

In my opinion it's Rodgers, because he's almost just as young has an even better arm than the one Smith showed at his workout, and has a faster release.

i say it's rodgers also, after watching him in college he seems to be the more complete player, even though i live in the southeast i got to see him play a good bit because he was a headliner. Smith on the other hand seemed to be a product of his 4 or 5 wide reciever system (i know maybe he was the system blah blah blah...) but in conclusion i would pick rodgers because of smith even though smith had a better touchdown to int. ratio

Smith. Hes smart and Ive had it with overhyped Tedford qb's. Dilfer, boller, akilli...they all end up sucking in the pros.

You can't just base things off of workouts only, but I'll try to keep this thread alive so we can have opinions after Rodger's workout too...

i'm not basing it on stats i'm basing it on watching them play and if we base it on your strategy Biok why don't we just draft a QB out of the mac they seem to be pretty succesful with pennington, leftwich, and rothlesburger

Rodgers is completely different than the other Tedford products. He has far far far better accuracy and decision making.

yeah i know i'm agreeing with that i just don't like the whole not draft a player according to their conference assessment

Ya it's pretty ridiculous. There have been great QBs from every conference...

not just that there has been good players from every position in every conference personally i'm an SEC fan but i don't advocate drafting purely from those schools

IMO; if Rodgers is there at #2, I'd take him no matter what. If SF takes him, I'm looking to trade down and go defense, Spears or Merriman.

Smith, easy

The age is no factor. Just a few months difference. Both are extremely young.

Smith is taller, more agile, better runner, more variety of loft and pace, less mechanical, probably smarter, and was a higher rated prospect coming out of high school.

As I've posted before, that's extremely important to me, pedigree and early evaluation. No chance I'm falling for someone who was a marginal prospect at Butte Junior College just a couple of years ago. The guys who go broke in Las Vegas pull crap like that. They see some team lose a basketball game to Duke by "only 7", then decide to give 6 points with that team the next time out. Guess what, they lose by 7 again because they're not that damn good. I realize that doesn't seem like a relevant comparison, but what I'm trying to emphasize is you need to rely on a long history of excellence if you're making this type of investment, a QB at #2. Smith isn't ideal in that regard, either, but he excelled in a good league in the San Diego area and, IMO, is much less likely to bust than Aaron Rodgers.

If we can find an attractive trade down then I'll be happy, however at this point I'd be very happy drafting either Smith or Rodgers at the #2 overall.

I am a big A.J. Feeley supporter.

I am a HUGE advocate for drafting Ronnie Brown.

All that being said...

The more I read about Alex Smith the more I like him. I only watched one Utah game this year and what I saw I liked. He is mobile, in control and makes very good decisions with the football.

I am still for drafting Ronnie Brown...but Alex Smith is now #2 on my hotlist. If they are BOTH there at #2 then Nick has a pretty big decision to make...glad I don't have to be the one to decide but I trust Saban...
