So this offseason is really hard for me to understand. I am assuming we will be using a 3-4 scheme because of Bill and his history with it. Now at this point I try and see what we already have on this team to use this scheme. Our 3 DL in a 34 would probably be Soliai, I was hoping we would sign Sopoaga, and Wright, they seem to fit the size requirements. With Roth and Holliday as possiblities, but they seem smaller. Now I'm not sure who I would put in there, but thats not what really what I've been obsessing about. I can't figure out who our LBs will be and where they will be. JT and Porter seem to be a no brainer at the outside linebacker position but with that being said wouldn't drafting Chris Long be pushing one of those guys outta the loop. Yes I'm assuming we will draft Long. And now who would be our inside linebackers? Would Crowder be a solid inside LB? I don't see it. And who else are we gonna have inside, move Porter to ILB, or Long? I can't figure it out. Can anyone see JT, Long, or Porter as inside Linebacker? Or can you see anyone of them not in the starting lineup? I'm having a hard time with this. Any thoughts here?

hopefully we get Mayo for MLB. ran a 4.56 40 did well in coverage and in passing downs we can have JT/Porter if mayo struggles but i think if we get pace or long someone is gone either JT or Pace. Maybe thats why jT did the dancing with the stars he konws that he will be gone? If we run a 3-4 we wont have JT at End i highly doubt it.

Long as an inside linebacker? I feel sorry for any receiver trying to do a short route in the middle of the field. Can you say OWNED. I can see him there but What I have a hard time seeing is the dolphins actually getting Long in the draft. If we some how find a way to trade down then I can Imagine it, but as far as i'm concerned, as long as the Dolphins hold the #1 pick, the First overall selection is a toss-up.

We also want Pace, who is and OLB. Seems to be a logjam at that position. I didn't think we would trade JT but maybe things are looking like we will.

It'd be awesome if they picked up another one of my boys in Bryan Kehl, especially if they go 3-4. That's right up Kehl's alley. Put him in as a strongside LB, and he'd be super solid.

Had a great showing at the combine, top 10 in just about every category (many top 5 and 3's) LBers performed in.

He's like a younger Jason Taylor.

Is it safe to say we are going 3-4 yet tho? Id like to think we are , especially since Zach isnt here for the 4-3 anymore. But does anyone remember Sporano's PC when he first got the job about building a system around his players and not the other way around? Not sure if that was just talk, maybe just the offense, or what. But I still dont believe 100% that we are making the switch....yet.

I really hate the idea of J.Taylor as a full time OLB, he was special when he played DE or when he moved all over the place. He's not a full time OLB and by putting him there he's gonna look older, slower, and someone everyone will want to cut next offseason. That's exactly what Tony talked about was having the system fit the players not the reverse. I really think we need to trade the guy now to a team who could really use his talent ie Jax,Indy,NO,Wash,Minn,Den. This also applies to C.Long, if he can't play DE in our system then I'd rather pass and take V.Gholston. Yes he would be considered a reach at number one but he fits the 3/4 and looks to be a beast. Otherwise J.Long should be the pick, nobody can say he can't play on the O-Line you can only argue amongest yourselves if he's a LT or a RT, bottom line we'd be much better off in the long run with either V.Gholston or J.Long.

My point was that we would have too much talent at OLB. So you wanna draft another OLB? So if we draft Chris Long, your boy Bryan Kehl, get Pace from Zona, and keep JT and Porter we would have 5 awesome OLB's but crap everywhere else. I'm concerned...all draft stories have us getting Chris Long, free agent rumors have us going after Pace, and JT and Porter are arguably the 2 best players on the D and they would be at what position......? Yep OLB's. See my point. Doesn't seem to fit. There has to be something happening, maybe trading JT or not drafting C. Long....I'm not sure but I doubt we would have JT and Porter starting with C. Long and Pace sitting on the bench. I'm just super confused on what we are doing because it makes no sense to me right now.

why would we trade down pick up long? he wont last past the 5. if dorsey isn't goin to be a top 3 pick then ellis or long are goin to STL

remember, we do have more picks than that #1 draft pick. we can get a LB or maybe two throughout the draft to fill our woes possibly at middle linebacker.

i agree wtih this... i was saying trade down a bit and long should still be there, but with all the talk now of Dorsey's stock falling, i'd be scared to do so because i think St. Louis would go for Long now (if they do believe Dorsey is a risk factor).

Except our HC's name is Tony Sparano, and according to him, the 'Phins are going to use whatever scheme best suits the personnel.

I hear you bro, and maybe thats why its confusing to me. Maybe we will run a 43 and then things would make more sense for me. Its just that its pretty obvious that Bill brought in "his guys," like our D coordinator Paul Pasqualoni, assistant head coach/secondary coach Todd Bowles, and D line coach Kasy Rogers all who coached together in Dallas running the 3-4. They we're also all hired by Bill Parcells who has consistently run the 34 defense. All I can do is take an educated guess, and so far I think we would run the 34. But maybe we will run something else that best suits or personnel.....what one would that be?

hollyday will start porter will start taylor MIGHT start. as for the other positions, let the battles begin... that being said, i believe kevin smith, our MLB from syracuse, will have his shot at starting since he is very familiar with one of the coaches on defence... crowder will be on a short leash, roth also, rod wright also, soliai also... out of those 4, i believe Rod Wright has the best chances to pan out, the only "if" in his case are injuries... he was a bright spot on defence last year as he caused havoc a lot of times for the Qback, but no one could finish the tremendous job he was doing, Qbs were rolling over and his work was wasted. With all that being said, i understand you very much because we are entering the 08 season right now with what might be one of the worst defensive front(especially in the Run stopping department) the NFL has known in 2-3-4 years...
