Ok, for all of you that have negative thoughts about Ginn, and saying he's no Hester, or shouldn't be labeled in the same category, etc.

Let me say a few things, agree or not.

Devin Hester was a returner in college, has a few reverses on offense, and could barely play corner in college, and yes, he was an amazing returner, but that was it. He was a 2nd round draft pick.

Ted Ginn was the same explosive returner in college, but also could play receiver as well. For all the negatives on Ginn as a receiver, all I need to say is how he burned Leon Hall and all you need to watch are the tapes of corners drafted into the NFL get beat by this guy.

Devis Hester returned the opening kick off in the Super Bowl for a TD. Ginn returned the opening kickoff in the College Championship game for a TD.

They are very similar in a lot of categories, but Ginn brings more to the table. If Hester could do what he did for the bears, literally winning 2 to 3 games for the bears, Ginn can do that and more. He may not be proven in the NFL, but I have not been this excited for a Dolphin draft pick in a really really long time.

If Ginn can have similar success like Hester in his first year, and play a good receiver role, help out the run game, and help the dolphins win a few games ala hester, then the #9 pick was well worth it.

I agree. Ginn is an excelent kick/punt returner and is already a very good receiver too. He burned both Leon Hall and Aaron Ross (both 1st rounders)in college. He changes the defensive game plan of the other teams and stretches the field just by being on it. He demandas the attention of at least one corner and one safety becuase of his speed and elusiveness and that opens room for other receivers and also for the running game.
I really don't understand how can you not like the pick.

i'll agree with you that he's an excellent kick/punt returner, however i will not agree with you that he is a very good receiver. yes he "burned" leon hall just like he has the speed to "burn" nearly every other cornerback in the NFL, difference is michigan and other NCAA teams didn't have the safeties to help out with that. Ginn will be an every-once-in-a-while big play receiver. He doens't run crisp routes and doesn't have great hands. i just think there were better picks at WR than him. Jarrett and Bowe atleast have the tools to make an immediate impact at the WR position, Ginn has the tools to make an immediate impact at the KR position. I hope he proves me wrong about that but i watched every ohio state game living in the regional area and I really never saw anything amazing about his receiving skills.

ginn just has to progress at the receiver position...it ma take awhile but hes further along than alotta people on here assume. he sure toasted aaron ross as well.

The question is whether his currently one-dimensional receiving skills are worth the jump from 57th pick (Hester) to 9th pick? Only time will tell, really. I could easily see it going either way. Personally, I think that's a very big unknown for a #9 investment, but who knows, he could be the big playmaker on offense we've needed for years.

hester would go top 20 if everybody knew he would play like that.

I'll take a Ginn long bomb every once in awhile. While he is developing as a WR he still has to be respected because of his speed. Defenses will have to loosen up just because of the threat. That opens Chambers and helps our running game. No more 8-9 in the box.

And Ryan Leaf wouldn't have been drafted if everybody knew he would play as bad as he did. That's what the whole draft is about, the unknowns and the chances you take.

I can only hope that you *uckeye fans are right and Ginn becomes a more polished reciever. Ginn has speed and should be a good returner but he still lacks the incredible vision and acceleration that Hester has to be a great returner.

Not only that Ginn is a outstanding CB :)
Wasn't he originally recruited to OSU as a cornerback and started playing early as a freshman on offense due to his great speed? I do recall him being one of the top prospects overall in the nation.

You are correct.

His acceleration is unbelievable. I have never seen anyone get to full speed faster tha Ginn.

And I think it was Cameron going on and on about his vision. Not as sure on taht one though.
