Alonzo Highsmith expresses interest in Miami's GM job

I think they should reconsider this. There are quite a few fans that would be an upgrade over Grier.

I am 100% in agreement. Keep hiring fans from Finheaven to be the GM in an open recruitment. That should be the new business model for the GM position. Share the wealth and engagement with the fans, rather than giving it to Chris Grier for 10 years. I would do that if I was the Owner. I wrote about this maybe a year ago, anyone but Grier. Any one who is interested and has a vision.

For those of you who don’t know much about Alonzo I can tell you that this guy would be a tremendous hire. He has been a Dolphins fan since his days when he attended Columbus High in Miami. He went to school there with Mike Shula, and became close with the Shula family. Don gave him a job during that time as a water boy for the Dolphins and him (playing FB, and D line) And Mike ( playing QB) lead Columbus all the way to a championship game in the 82/83 season. He is known throughout the league as someone who has a high football knowledge ( his dad was a football head coach) he. won’t tolerate BS from the players or the coaches, he knows how to build a team correctly, and is known as a very good talent evaluator. When people speak of building a ā€œ tough cultureā€ for our team Alonzo would be a perfect fit.

Sounds like everything I want

And when it comes to finding a coach Lorenzo was coached by Columbus High legendary no nonsense coach Dennis Lavelle, then He saw first hand how Don Shula coached the Phins, conducting those never ending practices at St Thomas University. When he attended UM he was coached by Jimmy Johnson. So he knows exactly what a tough, successful coach looks like. He won’t tolerate half ass, country club style coaching down here.

So connecting the dots Alonzo probably is close to Chris Shula? If that’s a package deal I’d be interested.

He’s my number one choice.
