Am I the only one that Doesn't want us to draft a QB??? If we draft a QB high in the draft, and that is supposed to be our QB of the future then we are a looooong ways away from winning. You draft a guy next year, he sits for the entire first year (more than likely) if he plays the following season, more than likely he will not do well and we will not be a good team for some time. It usually takes a QB about 4 years before everything starts to click and he reaches his potential. Do you really wanna wait that long??? With the players we have on this team right now, we can win RIGHT NOW with a couple of key additions. I say get a good vet QB, and lets get to the damn bowl within a couple of years!!!!!!!

We either have to draft a QB or get a young one in free agency. Drafting one would be a little cheaper initially, but then if we get a young one in free agency, it's going to cost us as well. Either way there may be a developmental period, or you could get lucky and get a QB like Roethlisberger or even Brees who can play pretty mistake-free football right away or within a year.
Gus is a decent stop gap QB, but we certainly can't pin our hopes on him. So what do you suggest we do? Live off other teams' "trash" and stay mediocre, or give up a few wins for the sake of the future. (Wins we may not give up depending on the level of play of our young, drafted QB). We can either be satisfied with winning records and playoff losses or we can be patient and get a championship in Miami. I say we need a young QB....and that Super Bowl victory.

I think Frerrotte will start next year regardless of whether or not we draft a qb in the first round. This WIN NOW philosophy we're all using is really only applicable to this year and next year. After that we start getting too old on defence and have to rebuild on the offensive and defensive side of the ball simultaneously (Cincinnati is just coming out of this phase). I really don't think that spending a first round pick on a player other than a qb is gonna make the difference between a superbowl and an average record next season. So let us try and go all the way this year and next, draft a qb in the 1st round, and rebuild on both sides of the ball in the years to come until we become a superbowl bound team.

I can see the Dolphins drafting a QB in the next draft. Also keep in mind the salary cap space were going to have. There's going to be a lot of money that the Dolphins are going to have in space and I believe that the Dolphins will persue a top QB in free agency (if there is one) Drafting a QB will take years for him to be a good player, unless you get lucky (see Marino/Elway). Drafting DB's, LB's, WR's adjust to the game quicker than QB's. With the cap space, I can see a top QB and OL coming in. IMO

sounds good, do we just go to the nearest veteran qb store and get one and if so WHICH one ?

David Carr

David Carr is due a huge roster bonus to carry out the final years of his contract. If the texans end up with the top pick, they may go for Leinart, and cut David loose. Any opinions on what David would be like on our team.

I dont watch a lot of texans games, but it seems when I was watching the Texans play the Bills in week one, he made some poor decisions, but his OL never gave him the time to get in a rhythmn. He may be an intriguing option.

Well, there's QBs for Pennies down on third, and there's Signalcaller Central, that's on third too, and then there's Quarterbacks-R-Us, also on third... come to think of it, just go down to the Quarterback District.

Id say its pretty much a certainty that we will draft a Qb in next years draft. Whether its a high pick or just a lower round pick to have as a 3rd Qb developmental guy we will take one. We have an unacceptable level of talent at the Qb position. Gus isnt going to take us anywhere this season or next. Qbs take time to develop but thats no reason whatsoever not to draft one. Sooner we start developing one the sooner he can play.

Mueller has already stated his philosophy is a team should draft a QB every year. Now, that may be a late round flyer and not a first round investment.

Right now there are some intriguing QBs on the market, but a whole pile of team likely to be looking: Jets, Green Bay, Arizona, Houston(?), Browns, Miami off the top of my head. Some of those might work out and not be looking, but that's a lot of people in the running for Matt and Phillip.

Funny, last offseason names like Alexander and James were available and teams chose to draft RB talent instead since it was cheaper. This year, the trend might go the other way as teams look for a proven young commodity, or a cheaper solution (Rivers, for example, with another team paying his signing bonus, will be an inexpensive risk).

I hope so. This team has almost always been a contender so that argument has been often used and it's the reason we so desparately need a QB now. We should have drafted Brees but Wanny said that a CB would help us more immediately. There are always holes to fill so some are tempted to go for the quick fix but in he long run that's usually the poorer choice. QBs are hard to find but the odds are better early in the draft than anywhere else. So you draft that QB when you have the opportunity.

I have to disagree with you I dont think the list is that long. GB drafted Rogers, Arizona has McCown who has played very well as of late, Houston has Carr and until he is gone they are in no need of a QB(OL yes, QB no), the Browns have Charlie Frye waiting in the wings and learning so I think they may not be a big factor either. The Jets are without question in the market, we need one, the Ravens should get in the market, and the Lions and Bears COULD be looking.

You are not the only one bro. I want to win now and to win now, you must have a QB that is ready and take control of the game.
