With the win last Saturday against the Titans......the Phins kept alive an amazing streak......

They have gone 36 seasons without consecutive losing records. Their last consecutive losing season was in 1969 (the year before the NFL merger, and the year before Shula got there). They had losing records from inaugural 1966 season through 1969, and have yet to have back-to-back losing seasons since. In fact, they only have 3 losing seasons since joining the NFL (1976. 1988 and 2004).

I have looked through all 32 NFL teams and aside from Denver, no one is even close. Denver actually has an pretty amazing streak of their own, they haven't had back-to-back losing seasons since 1972 (33 years)...1973 would end a streak a 13 losing seasons in a row for them, dating back to their 1960 inception.

btw - in looking at that specific part of Bronco history, 3 things may seem a bit familiar to us Dolphins fans....streak stopped in 1972, lasted 13 seasons, and the coach who coached the most games during the streak? Lou Saban.

Anyway, even as long as Denver's streak is, they still have 8 losing seasons since the merger.

The next best streaks are Buffalo (18 seasons), GB (14 seasons), NE (12 seasons) and Seattle (11 seasons).

I don't have the time to look now, but I wonder if teams in any other sports have similar streaks??

Just another mark in the great history and tradition of the NFLs best team.:dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins:

Ya...and congrats to Saban for never being a head coach of a team with a losing record as well.

I'm sorry, because it's exciting as hell..I've seen all the phins SB wins and losses..all the playoff wins and losses and all of Shula's years here, to include the years before Shula..Man I'm old..

I feel you.....I haven't seen a ring yet either.....and the SB I saw was too painful for a 7 year old to handle....... and the '85 AFC Championship was even worse.

Just funny how all throughout the end of last year through all the offseason and into this year, how they always said the Dolphins were a BAD team and insinuated that losing was the tradition around here. We were awful last year....but one year doesn't make you a losing franchise.......this record shows that.

yea im happy in that aspect. however, im a senior in high school and the last time the fins were in the playoffs was my 8th grade year four years ago. ive takin a verbal beating from my friends because i live and breath phins football. i dont know this so could anyone tell me when our last AFC championship game

1992 we hosted Buffalo in the AFC Chamionship. Another heartbreaker for me......both older brothers are Cowboy fans and that's who destroyed Buffalo on the SB. I remeber watching Inside the NFL the week before that game and the consesus seemed to be Miami over Dallas in the SB......

Why do you keep bringing up these painful memories......they were supressed for so long

I know another team that had a 32-year streak (and 12 divisional championships) like the one mentioned above - the Boston Bruins. The streak was broken in 2001 (2 games under .500). Another similarity: 2 Championships during the streak, both in the early 70s.

So I guess you could say the Miami Dolphins are the Boston Bruins of the NFL.

Didn't the Denver Donkeys really suck during the strike year. The Donkeys were absolutley horrible in the 1960's however, when they wore brown and yellow vertically striped socks. I miss the old Mile High.

Another amazing statistic (from miamidolphins.com):

There are only 4 teams in the NFL that have beat the Dolphins more times than we've beat them. Of those 4, only 1 team has more than 2 wins on us. We also share a tie with 1 team.

Houston 1 - Dolphins 0
Giants 3 - Dolphins 2
Jets 40 - Dolphins 38 - Tie 1
Oakland 18 - Dolphins 11 - Tie 1

49ers 5 - Dolphins 5

:dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins:

This is jus one more reason Miami is and always will be one of the best pro sports teams EVER!! No wonder the Bill,Pats, and Jets fans hate the Fins so much. Gotta love it.

This time next year, Buffalo's streak ends.
