Chad Pennington's throwing style, from a fan's point of view, is woefully flawed. There were some plays that it looked like he was throwing like a girl!!! I can only imagine what that throwing style looks like to a coach.

So what happens on Week 2 when Miami goes up against an opposing QB with a monster arm? Do we counter by starting Pennington? Is that how we will introduce this 2009 version of the Finz to a national audience?

To me, if Miami is serious about continuing to run the Wildcat offense, it would make perfect sense to start Pat White (that way, the Wildcat can become a shift formation), make Henne the #2 QB...and re-evaluate Pennington in the #3 position.

Very interesting times for sure....and many possibilities for the future of our team. I would like to hope we could win with Pennington, but my hope is fading.

my hope is you stop making threads. Pennington is our #1(for now). Henne is #2. yeah, Pat White is a great option, maybe next time he can overthrow Ginn by 30 yards...Pat White needs to line up as a WR nothing more.

To be honest, starting anyone but Pennington is about the worst thing we can do next week. I'm not too fond of him right now, and I'm all for bringing Henne in soon, but not next week. What happens when our home crowd (who I guarantee many love Pennington) sees that the guy who helped us get to the playoffs last year is being benched? They're gonna turn on the team .. fast.

But this isn't all directly attributed to the crowd. I don't really want Henne playing against that crazy *** pass rush yet, either.

Not for nothing, but it felt good to see us throw the ball deep . . . and Ginn was open. Yea Pat White overthrew him, but it was a good thought, they will connect on that play, just like I am sure they have in camp. That is all I want Chad Pennington to do . . .just like that flea flicker against Seattle when Ginn made that unbelievable catch between 2 defenders . . . give Teddy a chance to make a play down the field. The fact that Pennington doesn't even try is what worries me and shows he is not confident with making a down field throw.

don't ge me wrong, it is what we need but not from a 3rd string QB, i didn't like the fact that White was listed as #2 when you have a strong armed QB in Henne that can do what you just wrote. Throw it downfield.
Pennington doesnt try becuase he simply can't get it there, that's not his game. don't we know that by now? he dinks & dunks.
Teddy needs to step his own game up and stop playing scared. I like Teddy G but c'mon run with purpose not so timid

Hmm last year we all said that Chad doesnt need a monster arm and now he needs to ? C'mon give me a break.
You don't need to have a rocket arm as a QB

The panic button has seen more fingers in the past 12 hours than Jenna Jameson. Let's all take a deep breath and step back. Pennington has a weak arm. That same weak arm led to 11 wins last year. Nothing has changed. This is a run first offense. The running game really didn't get going yesterday, PLUS Fasano had two BIG fumbles. As poor as this offense looked, they were in position to win up until that last ATL FG. Relax. Pennington gives them the best chance to win, period.

That was last year . . . last year we were coming off of 1-15 . . . hell 6 wins would have satisfied many fans . . . we had a much weaker schedule last year and we won more than half of our games by a touchdown or less. Without Brady in the division . . . there was an opening, and Chad Pennington was good enough to seize the moment and lead us to an AFC championship . . . and I personally will never forget that.

But let's face it . . . this is a new year, and a tougher schedule, and that lack of an arm is really going to hinder us with all of the agressive defenses that we are going to see this season. They shorten the field against Chad.

I am just saying what I saw against Bmore in the playoffs and yesterday afternoon. If the team is not perfect, it will be tough to win. Chad will keep it close most of the time . . . and dolphans/coaches have to decide if that is what they want . . . or do they want a change.

Pennington give us the best chance to win now, meaning week 2 of the 2009 NFL season . . . but if we ever aspire to do better we need to see one of these 2nd round picks take over and lead us. Some people are happy with 8-8 or 11-5 with a weak schedule. I want more, and unless we are perfect, we will never achieve that with Pennington, atleast that is how it feels.

We were not in a position to win. We got to the red zone twice the whole game and we scored with what 4 min left in the game??

That Atlanta defense had FIVE new starters and were ranked at the bottom last year.

Chad Pennington will be the starter for 16 games. They will win 10, lose 6 and go to the playoffs. Chad will watch the Atlanta tape, make the necessary adjustments and we will see a lot more downfield throws next week, provided the line can protect a little better.
