Why don't we hire Schwartz and fire Philbin. Just go with a OC and DC. Nothing else has worked, maybe we need something innovative. (this is part sarcasm and part being serious)

I don't know if that would work. You could have a situation like the 1993 Houston Oilers with Jack Pardee as HC and Kevin Gilbride as OC and Buddy Ryan as DC. Pardee was very hands off and was almost just a figure head. When conflict came between offense and defense he stayed out of it. Buddy Ryan ending up trying to punch Kevin Gilbride when he didn't agree with aggressive play calling on offense that led to turnover and sent his defense back on field. Eventually the in fighting derailed a great Oiler team with 1st round loss to Chiefs. Pardee needed to bridge the gap between defense and offense and didn't.

From all accounts we have some of that going on currently with our team. Kevin Coyles comments after the Detroit loss when he said he thought they had secured the win when they held on the next to last possession was a bit of a shot at the offense. The stuff that Miko Grimes keeps leaking also indicate some underlying issues between defense and offense. Also notice that the team plays together for stretches but then when one unit starts to play bad the other rarely picks the other up. This could be a sign of one unit blaming the other. So really it is up to Philbin to get this corrected and get his team back in unison and not end up being a Pardee (figure head) coach.

I don't know if the "queasy" comment was a purposeful deflection or not (it would be genius if it was) but one thing it accomplished was it kept the defense and offense from blaming each other for the loss and the target went squarely on Philbin, then the next week the team had one of their best performances against Chicago. It worked brilliantly.

Then after the Detroit game we heard Coyle say something like 'we thought we did win the game after we forced the 3 and out...' Clearly there is some animosity between the offense and defense and I think its being driven mostly by the fans/media. The defense unfairly gets all of the blame just because they happened to be on the field last. We could probably lose 3-0 on a 60 yard field goal and most fans would blame the defense for the loss. It's really hard to defend one player/unit without throwing another player/unit under the bus. Like how do you defend Wallace without killing Tannehill (or vise versa)? Philbin needs to be better at deflecting blame, the fans need to be more fair, and the players need to have each others backs rather than point fingers.

After a loss like Detroit we should have guys lining up from both units willing to take the blame. Tannehill should stand up there and say: "dudes, we only scored 16 points and I didn't do anything with the ball in the 4 minute drill. Stop blaming the defense, this ones on us." And the leaders of the defense should be like: "we knew what we had to do, we live to win football games in those moments and we failed."

Instead we have Wheeler: the coaches asked me to cover a TE against Aaron Rodgers, how can the coaches do me like that!?!?!

Agree 100%, There is no "I" in "TEAM"

But it is human nature to blame others and protect yourself. Self preservation.

You apparently don't watch any post game interviews. Tannehill constantly takes the blame for losses. Cameron Wake has said in several interviews this year that they want the game to be on his and the rest of the defenses shoulders.

Wheeler's right though. Coyle is a moron for putting Wheeler in that position. He's a moron for even having him on the field at all.

Ok. So funny you would mention this after I just got done watching the U part 2 on netflix. This team doesnt need a new head coach it needs players who lead! That hurricanes team that had ed reed, Shockley, portis, taylor, those guys all said the same thing about that team
They were all in it together and if you ****ed off you got your ass kicked in the locker room straight up. Now I know the bullygate thing put a stop to this kinda thing supposedly, but I still believe you can police the team with the players if it is done right, and that is exactly what this team needs. It needs a few big scary guys that police things and keep everyone in check. I think tannehill has started to do that, but we need more than just him. That's still the problem with this team it seems, no on the field leadership =no fire.
