Everytime I get on this site, I hear about Rolando McClain, and how we should draft him. While this would be a GREAT pick, let's not get too ahead of ourselves, should he be off the board by our pick.

Barrett Ruud of the Bucs is a free agent this year. I haven't seen his name on this board for awhile. Ruud is not elite, but very, very solid.

In his last 3 seasons with a porous Bucs team, Ruud has put up 142, 137, and 114 tackles, respectively. At only age 26, and in the league 5 years, Ruud provides good experience, and a tenacity to find the ball.

Although not a sack artist, Ruud will get the job done. Bring him in Parcells!

Solid player but he will be RFA.

He will not be a UFA. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

When are you guys going to get it. There isn't going to be a new CBA.

Don't know that he has the size that is needed to play in the 3-4.

They list him at 6-2 and 241 lbs. but I think that may be a stretch. He looks more like a 230 lb. to me.

He does have a lot of fire in his game but I believe he will be a RFA and that will take us out of the running anyway.

My bad, just wishful thinking I guess. Knew he was a free agent, didn't notice RFA though. Still, kid's good

not a possibility, but interesting idea. my problem with ruud is he seems to be a perfect fit for tampa's 4-3. he's not that big, not an effective blitzer, just decent in coverage, and he plays extremely stiff - in the hips, etc.. the guy is a tackling machine with a great nose for the ball and outstanding instincts - but for a 3-4 he's not the athlete you'd want. i personally want crowder to stay and move over - and i see them as very similar players. no use in bringing someone over that we already have.

Are you really saying Crowder is a tackling machine with a nose for the ball and outstanding instincts?

not going there. just think they are similar players with similar shortcomings - and no use having two of them.

crowder had a down year. very down. up until this year he was a tackling machine with a nose for the ball. instincts ... eh.

I've mentioned him quite a few times. As others have said, he'll be a RFA, that's the problem.

In a 4-3 MLB get more tackles. But Ruud is a Crowder with a little better instincts IMO. Crowder would still probally start over him if he came here

i see where you are saying that they get more tackles but no way would crowder start over him. i might be wrong but i think rudd is pretty high for tackles at LB. also he is much quicker and can cover 30 times better than crowder. if he wasnt on the bucs he would reconized a lot more

Seriously? Why do people even begin to think we would let the NFL go uncapped. Paul Tag worked his *** overtime and retired after he put the last one together, dont think for one second Goodell wont put twice as much work in. Its going to take a while before the NFL becomes baseball. Though I would like you to explain why it is that you believe there will be no new CBA? Anyone else care to chime in?
