With everyone concerned about the "lack of running lanes" so far, and the poor O line blocking, I was just wondering...Given the way that we spread the field earlier in the preseason, (5 wide at one point if I remember correctly), do you think that EVENTUALLY, when all is revealed, we start running an offense where both backs shift out on 1st down, and we end up passing to set up the run? I mean, once you have the D spread out, it will enable us to run more stretch type plays, and allowing more running lanes for the backs to choose from.
Hell, the colts have been "making a living" with this kind of scheme. (as well as the Pats). We have the weapons to spread the field, and it has been done already this preseason. Could something like this be the reason why tony is not "tinkering" with the line. It may just be that "we" have no knowledge of what will really be going on when the season opener comes around???

Please take into consideration that I have only seen highlights. Unlike some on this board, I haven't the resources, time, or ability to watch each game 3/5 times, and break down "the film".

Somebody still needs some kind of push on the D-Line....just hasn't looked that great for us yet. Don't worry though, Sparano has said it will all work out. =)
I do see the offense being more wide open at times and not just allowing Ds to stuff 8 men in the box and call it a day.

The last 2 years, the run offense was slow starting out of the gate. There is no cohesiveness yet. It will come. Probably game 3-4.
I agree with you about Passing to Run. I think that is how we will run this year. The ground game will pad stats at the end of the game when we are winning by a comfortable margin.

I hope you're right, but this team hasn't had a comfortable margin in YEARS.

I hope we don't take it easy though and go into protect the lead mode. We need to be aggressive and stay that way.
I don't see us with big leads either really.

I think we have a pretty good pass offense. Henne will surprise a lot of his doubters.
I agree, we cannot go into run down the clock mode although we will try to. We need to bury our opponents if we can.

Knowing TS I agree our offense probably hasn't shown much of it's hand yet. It seems like Charles Clay is sort of a wildcard and he hasn't even played yet. Win or lose I think we are going to show the patriots lots of things they haven't seen out of the TS led Dolphins next Monday. Just hope we execute.
