We have run well but, I have not watched on how the opposing D's have played it. Have they loaded up the box to stop it or, have they mostly played the pass, daring us to run? Will things change after the bye?

From what I can tell thus far, no one has loaded the box to defend the run because the only time the running game has taken over a game was against New England. Yes the numbers are good but until have more balance, teams are more interested in stopping the pass than the run. I think we are something like 60% pass to 40% run.

lol...have you seen Green Bay's defense. They're pretty bad. I don't expect them to do much different than what we saw against the Raiders, although Green Bay has more athletes on their defense and a much better pass rush. James should have his hands full with Julius Peppers and the O-line needs to be aware of Clay Matthews but their linebackers are susceptible to the pass like ours, their safeties are OK when facing the play but anything behind them usually ends up being a TD. Their corners are OK as well but not great. Their D-line took a big hit when they lost B.J. Raji...they can't stop the run and even in the win yesterday against Chicago, which is a huge rivalry game, Forte ran for 122 yards on 23 carries and the Bears as a team ran for 235 yards.

If Tannehill is as sharp as he was against the Raiders we should be able to score 24+ points on the Packers and run at will on them. Question is can the defense hold them.

Lost me here.

Teams have basically rushed 4 and played the pass against us this year. I know the Raiders did very little blitzing and only stacked the line in obvious run situations.

Do you know who we play after the bye?

I do but, was asking how many guys have been in the box vs dropping in coverage so far, and if that may change, just a question in general.

Most of the clips I saw from the KC game showed 9 people in the box cuz they didn't respect the deep pass. Whether they are playing the short pass or run it all ends up bunching everyone within 15 yard of the line and makes it hard to operate. Buffalo was doing similar stuff.

You asked if it would change after the bye. I answered.

You won't see guys dropping into the box because of Mike Wallace and if Tannehill sees single high safety he needs to pull that trigger. All it takes is one big play. He did it with Hartline against the Raiders and Tannehill was attacking the middle of the field for a change. Cover 1 or cover 0 should be a win for us every time.

I completely agree. I'd love to see a breakdown of 17 since his rookie year vs man and cover defenses. My gut feeling is he's a lot more comfortable vs man and probably has most of his good games against them.

Thanks. I was more interested in how many guys were in the box with our success in running in the last 4 games. I should have phrased the post differently.

Albert has been a big part of the success in the running game. He's mauling his man then moving upfield to maul the next. They've even lined up Albert and James beside each other. James and Turner have created some huge holes on the right side. Moreno had success breaking tackles and running between the C and Guard. When the run has failed it was due to a LB run blitz and a missed assignment. KC lined up with a 4 man rush and it was all their LBs could do to cover our receivers. We often line up with 3-4 Receiver / TE sets. The run was clicking against KC and they were getting to Tannehill with the 4 man rush, as was Buffalo, due to poor RB blocking, or Sattele, Thomas, Albert also gave up a sack. The problem against KC was forcing the pass (specifically forcing the ball to Wallace) and abandoning plays to Miller when they were getting to Tannehill in the passing game. We got out coached by Andy Reid and it wasn't that difficult.

Albert has been great, and much better than advertised on the run. The pressure vs Buff and KC had nothing to do with the RB's blocking, they did not even give up a hurry in both games combined.

This is a cool chart. The chart on the bottom of the page says the majority of our runs were Mid Guard. We currently rank #1 in least stuffed and most 2nd level yards.

When the Dolphins execute the plays spreading the field, It is difficult to load the box. I am not sure why this strategy did not work with Bills and the Chiefs.
