I rarely post in here, but I would like to give my 2 cents to those who feel Culpepper was mistreated.

Without giving out any personal information I live in a field of work where bosses come and go. Unfortunately in life, things don't always seem politically correct.

I know many other professions where sometimes a boss comes in and "cleans house." Recently I had a boss who had served for 23 years before being let go by the company and when the new employer came into play, 15 employees were let go without warning.

My point is that owner Wayne H. asked Cameron to replace the stained imaged Wannstedt and Saban placed on this franchise. Cameron came in here with a vision and he's implanted that vision. He sees Beck as the future of this team and until he's ready he wants Green as the "win-now" QB.

Culpepper is still in a rehab state, and Cameron had no use for him.

It's a horrible world we live in sometimes, and certain things never come fair.

It's a part of life, and the NFL is beyond political. Cameron was dealing with the business end by waiting for trade suitors and with Culpepper's stubbornness, things turned to the worst.

Culpepper was not mistreated, nor was he embarrassed. It's business, not Madden NFL 08.

It happens all the time in many many professions. The political world is a ... (female dog lack of better words.)

Just my 2 cents...MODS can remove this post if I posted in the wrong area.

Thank you.

Very good post, and yes it happens all the time. Just look when a new AD comes into a college, look at all the coaches that are moved out so he can bring in his people. It happened to my brother who was at Virginia Tech, he was the swim coach and won A-10 coach of the year, Weaver comes in and brings in his buddy from Florida that was fired for reasons I'm sure Florida fans will remember.

Yep, its a business, and no oone ever said life was fair.

I agree.
DC, no matter if you think he is great, average, or washed up, just did not fit into Cam's plan.
If he had been given the opportunity to compete for starting QB, I am fairly confident he would have been embarrassed.
This is NOT the style of offense DC can work in. His athleticism is his best attribute, and it still remains to be seen if he has that left.
He struggles reading defenses and making quick decisions. He needs time to make plays and relies on his feet to do so. Does he still have that?
I wish him the best where ever he goes.

I liked Culpepper, but this post says it all for me. Well done and good job shag. Lets move on. I just hope that we are not saying the same next year, on Beck and Green

I think everyone agrees Culpepper's whining is a joke. We should all be mistreated like he was for 8 million dollars. Boohoo! The problem with Cam has been the Quarterback nonsense coming out of his mouth i.e. " it will be an open competition" " I can't evaluate Daunte until I see him play". Cam fueled the fire about letting Culpepper perform and then mysteriously... didn't. Yeah we got our savior: 37 year old Trent Green for a 5th rounder. Yeah, we stole Trent from the Chiefs. Everyone in the league is marvelling at our personnel skills. Mueller's a master. 3-13 here we come!

I see where you are coming from shag. To think that we replaced our QB with a 37 yr old is frightening enough. To see what we let go for zilch just makes it worse. Especially after giving up a second round pick to start with. I also agree that Cam has to take some of the blame over Culpepper, although, sometime,s inheriting a team, you do have to make some immediate decisions that you dont always want to make. Just to stamp your mark on the team.

Is there anyone else out there that gets really irate at the number of picks we lose in the draft through trading for players

Cam and RM would have liked to get something for DC, but DC made that impossible. You can't really blame Cam for that.
At least they didn't pay a 2nd rounder for Green. You have to admit past coaches have done MUCH worse trading picks for QB's
Also, consider how many draft picks RM and Cam were able to GET with trades this past draft. I mean, getting a 2nd and 7th for Welker, but only give up a 5th for Green? How can you complain about that?

I thought we did quite well this year personally.

Not arguing with that shag, but

No complaints here! We were able to bring in a veteran QB and draft a young QB for the future of this team. What is the problem with that. I believe Trent Green will play very well for us this season in a system he knows quite well. Daunte did not fit in the system that was easy to see from the start. That is why he is gone. This offense has taken a turn for the better thanks to the combo of Cameron and Mueller. Great job so far!

Culpepper was a bad call all around. Saban screwed up, the Drs screwed up and it didn't work out all around. I'm glad it's over and all sides can move on. I really hope Trent works out and grooms Beck the way we're all hoping.

If Trent Green doesn't cut it, what is your back up plan. i mean, I agree with everything you say, if things go well, but say they dont. Are we ****ed, or have you the miracle cure that we all want.

No miracle plan. Just like most teams in this league your season can rely on your starting QB. Everyone is in the same boat in this case. That is why you prepare your backup QB as if he would be the starter. Good coaching can do that. I have also stated all along that believe Cleo Lemon is a very important part of this football team. If Trent goes down or doesn't perform you have to have a guy ready to step in. I believe we have that.

You're exactly right... I think that DC's lack of perspective on this situation made those of us who wanted to see him move on, especially anxious to see it happen. His Ghandi remark has got to have the poor man spinning in his grave. Imagine fighting for justice your whole life only to have your heroic words dragged into a sports disagreement on the side of a guy who got $8mil to exercise for a year and a half. I'm only half-surprised he didn't preface his egotism with the Gettysburg address, and conclude with "I Have a Dream" from MLK.
