Andy Reid "Kodaking" Against Seattle On 4th And 18

Don't compare the two.

Why?

People hated the decision with the timeout on 4th down. Just because Reid is the better coach doesn't take away from the decision that Philbin made. They are both coaches, they made the same decision, what's the difference?

One worked one didn't, it happens.

Exactly. As soon as Reid called it I knew there would be a pants-on-ground thread on here making the comparison.

Yeah, it's just so far fetched to compare a similar and singular coaching tactical move b/w the two. :bobdole:

Considering the flack Philbin received for it on this board, it's fair to be brought up.

It is different. Just like the scenarios between the Packers game and Lions game was.

I was following on the internet and it showed that Seattle was out of timeouts. So it clearly allowed for Seattle to regroup as well. The odds of any conversion on 4th and 18 are low, whether or not a defensive timeout is called.

The serious point was that Philbin's philosophy is sound and perhaps our coach could garner a little more support if others saw it being used by established coaches.

I will be honest. I would give the benefit of the doubt to an Andy Reid because of his success record. Joe? His team cannot finish games and that I place at his feet.

The devil is in the details. There was more time on the clock in the Seattle/Chiefs game and the third down play had been an incomplete pass, stopping the clock. There is also a big difference between 4th and 9 (which irrc was the situation in the Packers game) and 4th and 19.

It's also worth noting that Andy Reid is considered one of the worst in game coaches in the NFL.

Ok first of all Reid called a time out after seattle called a play, lined up and showed their offensive formation. Seattle wasn't rushed into that play so Reid calling a time isn't helping seattle. Philbin called a time out as Green Bay was scrambling, in total disarray and hurrying up on a fourth down play. The time helped gb in a huge way. They were two very different scenarios but homers will always homer.

Rodgers never look flustered, even after the sack. He has said that he prefers the hurry up approach and the TO didn't matter and it didn't help. Now obviously it worked out in GB's favor and the Wheeler match up was horrendous but that's after the fact. Rodgers was never worried regardless.
