Annual Sunday Ticket Thread

Last year I paid around $200 CDN for DAZN, which is more than just NFL football. It's a British website. The great news is I get all of the games plus coverage for other sports such as Rugby, European hockey. etc.

The bad news is that it can be laggy, especially with big games. For watching the Dolphins it's great, as most of their big games are televised. Occasionally it's annoying however, when demand on the game is high.
I have DAZN for Boxing, but they don't have the NFL in the US.

15,000–20,000 Channels: Claims of such high channel counts are associated with IPTV services, which are unreliable, low-quality, and most likely not legal.

Local Channels Nationwide: No legitimate service provides local channels from across the country due to broadcast rights and technical limitations.

Watching All Dolphins Games for $40/Month: Watching all Miami Dolphins games (in-market and out-of-market) requires multiple services when accomplished legally (e.g., Sling TV, Paramount+, Amazon Prime, NFL Sunday Ticket), costing a lot more than $40/month. An IPTV service at this price may offer some games but is unlikely to provide consistent, legal access to all games due to NFL blackout policies

You start searching for illegal services, you're going to find them and hopefully get caught doing so...
It is an IPTV. I’ve been on it for a few years now. I have fast an internet connection, and it never crashes. I see every game. If it’s illegal, it’ll be on them. My goggle search never asked for illegal services. I don’t really care what people think about it.

IPTV services that provide unauthorized access to copyrighted material, such as movies, TV shows, or live broadcasts, violate copyright laws, including the U.S. Copyright Act.

You are not exempt if you're caught, you can't blame the streaming service if you willfully use it.

Copyright holders, such as media companies or streaming platforms, can sue individuals for streaming pirated content. Penalties for copyright infringement can include statutory damages ranging from $750 to $30,000 per work, and up to $150,000 if the infringement is deemed willful.

You raise the costs for those of us that watch games legally and I hope they shut down the illegal service you're streaming.

I purchased Sunday Ticket last year but I was a bit disappointed to find that I really didn't need it very often and I'm seriously debating going without it this year.

There are always several games that get aired on regular TV.

For instance, I will likely see the Falcons and Panthers match-ups this year because they're local to me.
We also play one of our home games in Madrid, Spain which is likely to get aired on tv early in the AM.

There are usually several games that air in Primetime.

This now includes quite a lot: SNF, MNF, ThNF, Xmas, Thanksgiving, flexed games, Saturdays at the end of the year, etc.
So between local games, international games and the primetime stuff that everyone see, this is already ~1/3rd of the season.

Some games are garbage...for instance, once Tua went down, Dolphins games got very hard to watch pretty quickly. There's always a good chance of that happening. Miami had a full month or so of those games last season (Seahawks, Titans, Colts) and that's not including the games where it's decided before the 4th quarter (Bills in wk 2). Heck, we could also include the Browns & Jets at the end of the season when Tua sat out. That's almost half the season...Yuck!

The one thing we had going for us in '22 and '23 was that every game was worth watching (or at least something that had you excited heading in). 2024 was really the first year of truly ugly, unwatchable football. It's not worth spending on Sunday Ticket if/when the season turns into that!

There are always a few you end up missing due to other commitments anyhow. You couldn't watch these if you wanted to.

In the end, you'll watch highlights and cut-ups anyway. What you do miss will be online as soon as the game's over.

At best, Sunday Ticket will have you paying for maybe 1/3 and 1/2 of the season that isn't already available somewhere else...and that's if you're there wanting to watch it at all. So, if you're paying $300 for 8 games, that's almost $40/gm where most of that is immediately available after the fact and it's mostly commercials that you'll watch.

Is that really still worth paying for?

If you make peace with coming back to watch replays and cut-ups after the fact, it really frees up your weekend anyhow. With my schedule, it's getting more and more inconvenient to build my days off around watching TV. I watch tons of stuff but almost none of it is live anymore. It's just so inefficient.

For me, it was cool to do 2-3 times during the year, but ultimately, I found it really felt kind of boring wasting all morning waiting for the game and then suffering through a 3-hr game that was 2/3rd commercials.

I'll probably just keep spending my Sundays playing golf with a few games mixed in that I watch with friends. I have a buddy who's a big Commanders fan. He and I will probably watch that one together. I may watch the Carolina game with my friends / family here.

Aside from those, there's little point in watching by myself when I could be spending my afternoon outside having fun with friends and coming back to check in on how things went and spending my week chatting with fellow fans and viewers here.

I got priced out last year. Even with the student deal it was just more than I could rationalize paying.

Sad days as I don't expect the price to ever come back down. Silver lining was I spent more time doing stuff with my dad (vs just watching TV with him).

I have YTTV and me and 2 of my friends split the cost of $300 and I then give them a YTTV login through the regular season. I then change my password when the season ends.

Cool story.

Had it two years ago when we had an explosive offense for most of the season and didn’t regret it. It was a decent deal the first year.

Did not have it last year and DEFINITELY did not regret it lol

We have a lame duck head coach and GM so I’m not getting it again

The good old days of calling the cable company every September and threatening to change providers….. Sunday Ticket and NBA League Pass offered for free lol

That worked one time. It doesn't work every year.

It worked for me every year for over 10 years. Once DirecTV lost the ticket, I cancelled.

What the hell was your excuse every year?. I see people say all the US stuff but there's no way in hell you can negotiate 10 years ,5 years straight or what ever

I was always polite but firm and wouldn't accept any lowball offer. I would tell them the only reason I have DirecTV is for the Sunday Ticket, and since it is too expensive I am just going to cancel my service. I never demanded anything. Usually they would offer me a discount and maybe free Showtime or something like that and I would just say no thank you. Then they would offer me the package for free.

I moved into my house in 2007. I paid for the ticket the first year, after that I always got it for free.

...or I may go back to NFL+ premium if that is available this season with the potential espn buyout.
I've had Game Pass and now NFL+ for a few years now, so I sure hope they continue it. If they stop it, then I'll have no way of watching the games anymore, and that will be the end of football for me.
