A writer from Wired magazine wrote an article on the '72 Dolphins. Kevin Hench wrote "the '72 Dolphins with Mercury Morris, the self-appointed Blowhard Emeritus, begrudginly acknowledged that a team may match their perfection and become the greatest team in NFL history. To keep this short basically he says Morris is crazy for even thinking that the '72 team is anywhere near being considered as the greatest team. The '72 team opponents combined winning % of 367 and the fact that when they played teams with winning records they were outgained 675 to 663 were his reasons. Every time I hear an idiot write why that '72 team aren't the greatest or considered to be the greatest makes me appreciate them so much more that I use to.

Probably a Patriots fan still crying because of their 18-1 season.

Who cares about what someone said in Wired Magazine?

^

Although i kind of agree on the point that Mercury Morris is a blowhard. I admire the 72 Dolphins who are PROUD of their accomplishment but aren't bitter enough to root against teams like the Patriots or Colts efforts to match it. Those are the real men. Mercury Morris is annoying.

Mercury Morris does have that mouth, though. He always has had it.

I still think Csonka can kick the guts out of him if he wanted to.

Whatever, at the end of the day, we're still the only team in the history of the NFL to go undefeated

Fact of the matter is that the 72 Dolphin team's accomplishments can never ever be exceeded. Sure teams today can go 16-0 in reggular season and 18-0 and win the Super Bowl. But today an undefeated team will have home field advantage. Miami, during the 72 AFC Championship game had to win ON THE ROAD. Critic always seem to overlook this vital piece of information that makes their accomplishments all the more PERFECT!!!

Mercury Morris should stop embarrassing himself, and be a Champion with dignity and class.

As for the artcile. When you're the one and only, there will always be those trying to take you down.

A quick question- are you trying to get in touch with nyjunc?

who am i kidding of course you are
Because the quickest way to get him to this board or post something is to start a thread about the 72 dolphins OR Don Shula

:sidelol:

Wow, I would've expected these "72 Dolphins are t3h overrated" articles to die a quick death after this past season.

unforutunately it isnt going to go away and you can expect more dolphins bashing from the media like randy cross , terry bradshaw, and the dallas area media ,and the northeastern usa . Jim kiick never said anything and he is catching hell for it here in the midwest.

I hate it that the dolphins are catching hell especially Jim Langer and Kiick

mercury needs to zip it shut becaus the dolphins have enough enemies in the media

and I like to always add they did it with a backup QB for most of the season.

Their opponents' winning percentage is a meaningless stat. You can only play who they schedule you against. MANY other NFL teams have had weak schedules and not a single one went undefeated over the course of an entire season. That '72 team should be proud of their accomplishment. I don't like the way Mercury runs his mouth, but in a way, he has a right to.

As far as them only playing 14 games,, once again you can only beat whoi the NFL puts in front of you.

Mercury should talk and talk some more. The haters are the ones who embarrass themselves.

Does anyone honestly think Michael Johnson wanted Usain Bolt to match or better his 200 meter world record the other day? That 19.32 appeared to have the potential to survive for decades. Ato Boldin said on NBC that he expected the 19.32 to be the world record on the day he died.

They showed Michael Johnson's reaction and he jumped backward, obviously stunned.

Likewise, that 17-0 can literally withstand centuries. And if that happens, the feat and the players grow in legend, far beyond anything we can remotely imagine right now. All the 18-1 teams including the '85 Bears drift into obscurity, easily replaced.

The Giants victory over New England was the 3rd most significant outcome in Dolphin franchise history, behind only the two Super Bowl wins.

The 2007 NFL season was basically a 5 month advertisement for the '72 Dolphins. Frankly, I can't believe Mercury and the others didn't squawk more than they did after the Super Bowl. I wouldn't have shut up until the Masters, if then.
