Brandon Watts
Outside Linebacker Age: 27 Exp: 5 Years
Drafted: Round 7 (#223 overall), 2014 College: Georgia Tech Agent(s): Joe Linta (JL Sports)

He has been on our practice squad...basically we were his last NFL stint before he went to the CFL/AFL. 4.4 speed.

We need some bodies at linebacker. Hope this guy can thump. We have no enforcing type LB's and that is why our run defense suffers, because no one is scared to run up the middle through a bunch of arm tackles.

Looks like he's played in a total of 9 NFL games with no starts and a grand total of 3 tackles. Hope he played well in the CFL and they know what they're doing.

via CBS Sports:

Watts (back) reverted to injured reserve Sunday.

The Dolphins' decision to keep Watts around after he cleared waivers isn't surprising, considering their affinity for his upside. He will, however, have to sit out the 2017 regular season.

That was last year.

So we still need a upgrade at linebacker it appears as this is just another dude.

I'm afraid to say it, but I think the era of the thumpers has past. Now it's all about speed at LB, so we no longer see the 6'4 250 pound LB's who can thump with the long arms and upper body strength to dis-engage from blockers. Those run stuffing LB's are a thing of the past. Today we're looking at 6'1 230 pound LB's who run 4.5 forties to cover the immense ground required by all these spread offenses. The ones who can thump at that size are very few and far between. And once an OL gets their hands on a LB these days, it's game over for the LB.

Times, they are a changin'.
