according to this he's an "Excellent Prospect"

keep in mind the ineptitude of the raiders front office, as well as their personnel management

Keeping you all in the loop is all

I got a good friend who is a Bill's fan who says you guys are definitely targeting a C. What is going around the Bill's rumors? He seems to like Birk, but it also seems like the Bills have tons of money tied up in their OL, not to mention the Peters situation (sorry sore subject.)

Thanks for the update. I sure it will be debated.

This is the hot topic on our board right now seeing Grove voided his contract. Lot of people could see him as being our first signing now (Originally wanted Jason Brown). Then you have your Mack followers wanting him to get drafted at 11 (though I am more of an Everette Brown, Orakpo guy at 11). Then Eric Wood.

So right now there is a ton of debate over which center is best.

Peters Hmmm I may be of the minority but I do think they need to give him a raise. Some say he should be traded (just to make another hole).

a raise for Peters? ummmm,why?

Because I think he is a very good LT. Do I think he deserved the Probowl this year, no. But I also think that he has outplayed his current contract for a LT. He is a Young and Still Promising LT, though I also think he hurt himself alot this year with his play. Before this year I was all about giving him 8-10 a year. Now I am on board for more along the lines of 5-8 a year.

But I degress here is a scouting report on Grove

Assets
A feisty competitor and a proven leader. An excellent run blocker. Uses his hands well, finishes every block, and knows all the tricks. Takes good angles when pulling and trapping. Latches on and wins most matchups. A brawler who plays with a lot of intensity. Gets a good jump off the snap and uses sound footwork and hand placement to stay with his defender when pass blocking. Played part of the 2001 season with a broken hand but kept battling.

Weaknesses
Not a super athlete. Looks stiff when trying to change directions or mirror a defender. Doesn't always get the job done on the second level because linebackers can elude him. May have trouble with some of the faster defensive tackles in the NFL.

Personally I think 11 is too high for Mack. Not to mention that Buff's pass rushing was just downright terrible. Schobel injury definately hurt, but he needs someone opposite him. I think a DE is in order at 11. I like Brown more than Orakpo, but think both can be solid, not to mention I will not look forward to playing either 2x a year. Schobel, Stroud and Draft pick would be scary.

I heard rumors of possibly moving Schobel to OLB situationally. If I were a Bills fan I would not be happy. Saw what happened when we alternated between a 3-4 and 4-3 in 2007.

The Peters is a tough situation no doubt. Another hole is never good. Especially that big of one. But he is a Pro-Bowler (deserved it in 2007, was out of shape from a hold out in 08.) Any chance of a Franchise on him? Or a tag/trade or sign/trade may be ideal for you. Not sure who would bite..maybe those pesky Lions.

Well actually they do not have to do anything contract wise, he still has two years, just wants a raise is all

Shoot my bad man. I was way off base with that. Don't know my Bills to well and just kind of assumed.

He is definately worth more then his 3.5mil salary. I would probably be mad if I were him too. I don't really know how anyone can argue against resigning a True Pro-Bowler.

Until this year I thought he was worthy of a raise , not that he had to get it, but you could have justifiy the raise if you had to. The problem with holding out and not showing up in shape is bad business and it showes bad charcter flaws. Sure Peters can be a very fine LT, but injuries and wanting money more than wanting to win is a big big hint you may not get that players best all the time. If you are gonna pay a player big money, you want them to show they are team players and not me players and you want to see consistency.

I think there are many teams that will pay Peters the money he wants, but Peters will always be a"ME" player. I could see Peters holding out if he were a Orlando Pace or Bruce Smith type players but Peters hasn't played long enough to earn the benefit of doubt. I ususally give the Bills crap for poor management, but in this case I think wanting Peters to prove he's worthy of the raise is fair on their part. Peters blew this one, he should have shown up in shape and played this year.

Don't we have a 300 lb. center that's not big enough? At least Satele is athletic, not "stiff".

Satele does NOT look anywhere close to 300 lbs. They could put that down all htey want but next to the rest of the OL he looks small. I wonder if he is closer to 280 and that is why they say he is too small. A 300lb center you can work with. 5-10 lbs more does not make that much of a difference. Either he is very weak or he is much lighter than 300lbs.

Just because players may have equal weight doesn't mean they have equal playing strength or weight room strength. Even if Satele, for example, weighs 300, and Eric Wood, for example, also weighed 300, doesn't mean they both have the same positive transference of their weight room strength to their playing strength.
