I have to admit, like others, I enjoyed reading ‘The Culpepper Manifesto,”, and felt compel to add to some of those numbers. Here are a few more interesting stats on DC’s career, as well as comparison to other current QB’s in the game. We will start with some Outdoor / Indoor stats on Daunte.
Since DC’s Outdoor and Indoor record was mention in other posts, I thought it would be fair, to mention more details on them…
In DC’s 79 career game as a starter (not including his last game last year, only 4 Attempts), and as a Viking, he has had only one winning season. During DC’s career with the Vikings, the team’s best season (11-5) was in 2000, DC’s 2nd year, where he had a QBR of 98%...
DC’s CAREER RECORD is 38-41…
DC’s Outdoor Stats= 606 comp, 989 att (61% comp), 6,938 yds (7.0 YPA), 42 TDs, 36 INTs, and an average 81% QBR…
DC is 5-22 in Outdoor Games…
In those Outdoor games (not using the first 2 games of 2005), the Offense under CP averaged 20 PPG…while their Defense allowed an average of 29 PPG…
DC’s Indoor Stats= 1,069 comp, 1,614 att (66% comp), 13,584 yds (8.41 YPA), 93 TDs, 50 Ints, and 99% QBR…
33-19 in Indoor Games…
In those Indoor games, the Offense under CP averaged 25 PPG…while their Defense allowed an average of 22 PPG…
CP has a career average 90% QBR…
In 2004 his best performance year, his team only went 8-8, with an Outdoor QBR of 105% and Indoor QBR of 115%. Both Defense and Offense allowed and scored an average of 25 PPG. DC had over a 3 to 1 TD-INT ratio in both Indoor and Outdoor games. The team also lost 4 games where they scored at least 22 points. Kind of shows that a team needs both O and D to help them succeed…
Using the last 4 games played in 2005, and not using his first 2 of the season, DC averaged a 90% QBR, and completed 65% of his passes. There have been numerous excuses on his first 2 terrible games, so I won’t mention them since most all of us know them already.
With all that said, from 2000-2005, the Vikings lost 14 games when their Offense scored at least 22 points, while the Dolphins lost only 7 games when their Offense scored at least that many points, during the same time. What would we have done with 7 more wins, in the regular seasons, within the last 6 years?
Now, we will move unto comparison stats with some of whom we think are the best current QB’s in the game, I chose QBs that at least had 3 years in the NFL. The categories are simple: QB, QBR, Total TDs (Passing and Rushing), Points Scored (TDs X 6), Total Touches (Passing and Rushing Attempts), Touches per TD (Both Pass and Rush), and lastly we have Touches per Turn Over (Combined INT’s and Fumbles Lost).
