Just one more stat that I found regarding Culpepper's disasterous 2005. This one has been mentioned in passing, but the actual rankings weren't shown.

The Vikings defense was ranked 26th in points allowed at the time of his injury (weeks 1 thru 7). The Vikings defense was ranked 12th in points allowed after Brad Johnson took over (week 8 thru 17). For what it's worth.

There were a lot of factors involved in Culpepper's horrible start and Brad Johnson's strong finish. I'm not too worried about Daunta. I think he will come back from this injury and be a great QB for us for many years to come.

Yeah that is interesting, But what were the stats for Culpepper and Johnson?

Johnson's were definitely better...I don't mean to excuse the poor play of Culpepper completely. I'm sorry about that. He was a part of the reason for the defense ginving up more points because of all the turnovers. I just think that the defense was just another factor that added to his poor production. The thing that I blame Daunte the most for is his trouble learning the new offense...that is entirely his fault.

Technically, you could argue that Culpepper throwing pick after pick made the defensive rank drop as well, after all the more time opposing teams have the ball the more chances they have of scoring.

i also read an article posted by someone on this site that daunte was playing very much hurt BEFORE the knee tears. he is playing with the best offense of his career. the skill positions are stacked with booker, chamber, mcmichael, ronnie and ricky. he will play accordingly.

Ding! You hit the nail on the head. Compare the supporting casts on both sides of the ball and it's not even close.
