I thought the play calling was bad last week but this week it got worse.
-After the cincy game DW said they didnt feel confident using the shotgun on the road and that feeley hadnt worked on it enough. DW also said they would work on it this week in practice and use it in the game. So what happened this week? we barely used even though pitt was constantly blitzing. Gee let me think would the shotgun help the QB read the blitz and get rid of the ball quicker? No lets not try that. I know that most of the day the field was wet but in the 4th quarter we had the ball at the pit 14 on the grass and it hadnt rained since the first half. Pit was constantly blitzing, perfect time to go in the shotgun and heave one in the endzone right? Not according to our OC.
-why did we do so many play action passes? Play action only works if the team fears your running game or your QB is great at selling the fake. The fins dont do either of those. And anybody who has ever played madden know what happens when you do play action when a team is blitzing. its either a sack or a rushed throw. we should have done more normal passes that let feeley read the field quicker and the RB could have blocked or gone out for a route.
