Miami Dolphins (10-6)
Point differential: -17
Pythagorean expectation: 7.6 wins
Record in games decided by seven points or fewer: 8-2 (.800)
Strength of schedule: 0.480 (Eighth-easiest in NFL)
The 2016 Dolphins were, more than most teams, defined by their schedule. It's not just that the Dolphins were 8-2 in one-score games; it's that they were 8-2 with the vast majority of those wins coming against the worst teams in the league.

The article wasn't negative dude, in fact it was quite factual. Now did he take injuries, new coach, new system etc. into play......no not really. But I personally like articles like these as they give a different perspective on the team no matter how hurtful it might be to us. These guys are not fans of the Dolphins, they are reporters and analyst.

All valid points IMO. Kapernick destroyed Miami that day and was 2 yards away from tying the game. Miami did need 2 late scores to beat the Rams. Miami allowed 589 yards of offense to Buffalo and were a missed FG kick by Fields away from losing. They lost their first 2 games by 9 points. The defense completely blew it vs Seattle in Week 1 and then allowed Garrapolo to go 18 for 26 for 232 yards and 3 TDs in one half of play before getting hurt.

We all know that the defense wasn't good last year. I believe they are better now than they were in 2016 but that remains to be seen. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Dolphins this year. They've screwed us in the past so often it's hard to imagine back to back winning season with a postseason birth.

I would like to see their 2016 SOS for us prior to the season, these things always fluctuate. I mean yeah our schedule should tougher because of finishing second but there will be teams that rise and fall. I am not discounting our close wins either. Some coaches excel in these situations, maybe Gase will be one of those.

The slate will be far tougher for the Dolphins in 2017. ESPN's Football Power Index projects that they will face the second-toughest slate of opponents in the league. The schedule for the AFC East as a whole will be tough -- the division swaps out the NFC West and AFC North for the NFC South and AFC West -- but the Dolphins also have to face the Patriots twice and match up with the Titans and Ravens.

That game at Seattle in week one is the one that stings the most for me....no way should we have lost that game. Dolphin fans are so excited as they should be, but I think we are still a year or two away from making any serious noise.

The Stills drop was just a part of it. Miami had a 10-7 lead with a few minutes left. Get a stop and it's over. You go to 1-0 in Seattle and things are already on the up and up.

Agreed....Just thinking about it upsets me to this day.

ESPN is an unofficial part of the New England organization and this is actively encouraged by Jonathan Kraft, son of owner, Robert Kraft. It is physically located in Bristol, Connecticut and I've heard that around 80% of the employees at the head office are Patriot fans. One should always assume that ESPN will present material that supports the status quo of the Patriots being dominant.

8-2 in records decided by 1 score or less. That usually is a pretty good statistic to indicate regression the following year. One score games are generally one bounce of the football away from going to either team. Luck can play a big role in it, as we saw in the Cleveland game with the missed FG.

While true, those 2 losses were at Seattle and NE. The Seattle game we've talked about a bunch. The defense needed one more stop and couldn't come through. The NE game was strange since they got out to a huge lead only to see Miami slowly come back. They did have the ball down to NE's 29 yd line with 15 seconds left so there was a "chance".

Who knows.
