Still haven't gotten over Ricky's abandonment last year and I still don't trust him. I am surprised and pleased, however, with what I've been hearing and reading about him of late. He's single-mindedly focused on football, not a distraction (at least none that I've heard), turning down endorsement opportunities right and left, and committed to the program and team. Is it possible that he's really turned himself around and gotten his head on straight? Or is this just an act? I can't believe that an NFL-caliber starter is putting on an act given how much focus, heart, devotion, and talent is required to play at that level. Can he ever be what he once was? Just curious to hear with others think. My jury is still out.......

I think Ricky will return to his form for another team, because he will be traded ! Nick Saban is an EVIL genius!!!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ahahahahahahahah!

Actually, he appeared single-mindedly focused on football and was not a distraction last year, either... right up until he walked out.

I don't trust Williams, I don't think he should be counted on to be our featured back this year or in the future... and I believe Saban has shown that he agrees with me by picking Ronnie Brown.

With Ronnie Brown expected to be the starter in Miami for years to come, I don't mind having Williams back. In my mind, the best possible thing would be for both Ricky and Ronnie to have great years, then trade Ricky.

He is human and as a human he can better himself. Bottom line his prodcution will determine his lot in the organization and indeed the NFL.. So far so good

Well, we picked Ronnie before Ricky had made it clear he was going to return... I wonder if it would have been different if Ricky was already in the fold.

Ditto. He's capable of getting a wild hair in the blink of an eye and just flying the coop again.

I agree with your comments but we need to keep in mind that even tho he is saying and doing the right things now, think back to June and July of last year...he was being a solid leader in the locker room and totally involved in the camps and getting ready for TC to start....Then he made a phone call from Austrailia to Wanny.....

My point is that, IMO, he cannot be relied on to be the guy for us. Not now, probably not ever in Saban's mind...that will hang over his head until he hangs up for good.

So, the jury is still out, and probably will always be hung when it comes to RW...

As I said in the past. Ricky is a different person than he was last year. He has a better understanding of himself and life and has fully embraced the eastern religions. That is why his comments sound so "out there". Many westerners can't even begin to understand the eastern philosophy way of thinking. They do not care about money or material things. They want themselves to be purified and try to live very healthy lives. They live for today and the now and do not focus on things that are not within their control. Everything will fall into place.

Saban contacted him and invited him back. Saban makes many comments very similiar to Ricky's just more elaborate. I believe it will be Ricky and Saban or Ricky doesn't play. It's hard for the traditional western mind to grab, but he doesn't really care about money or accolades, he wants to be happy, healthy and helpful. No other team will ever be able to give us what his true worth is due to his past.

As for last year. I have heard from some trainers that the locker room was hell. There was no respect for the coaches, no discipline and a lot of christianity from Wanny. I think all of these played a role in Ricky leaving. Apparently more than one person talked about leaving but couldn't do it. And actually Chidi Ahanato did leave when he saw what this organization was all about. Ricky obviously also needed to find himself which he definately did.

He is a dolphin for life.

Saban was on PTI the other day and flat out said he hasnt even thought about trading Ricky Williams. So I dont think its going to happen. We couldnt get enough for him to lose his talent. I wouldnt trade him for anything under a 2nd round pick. That is way low for a running back with top 5 or top 3 talent. I just dont see it happening.

Saban has said that he is not trading Ricky. Saban always makes very vague and Ricky esque comments. For him to come out and say that means he is here most likely for his duration.

Ricky pickes ronnie because he said he would take the best available talent. That according to his board was Ronnie. Personally I think he would have much rather traded down.

Why would you want to trade him. Ricky will most likely be very resonable with his salary (much moreso than Ronnie) and Imagine that backfield combo for the years to come. We'd be unstoppable and have no worries of injuries

Saban plays those mind games and thats a good thing, whatever he says he hasn't done you can bet he has. thats the old trick pretend to not want to trade someone so then another person who wants him is willing to offer more to get him
