Virginia has had a great run of tackles that have been drafted with several doing extremely well in the NFL including D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Branden Albert and Eugene Monroe.
The Virginia Cavaliers have another talented left tackle prospect in this year’s draft in Morgan Moses, HT: 6'6", WT: 314 lbs senior.
Described by Senior Bowl director Phil Savage during the week of practices as "The Great Wall of China" and the "Rock of Gibraltar."Boasts an octopus-like seven-foot wingspan.
Clearly possesses terrific range and reaching ability. Very strong and naturally fluid attacking the play-side end in outside-zone and stretch principles within Virginia's zone-blocking scheme.
Moses does have some familiarity with Miami's offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, who coached Moses while at Virginia. Miami offensive coordinator Bill Lazor was part of the coaching staff that recruited Moses to the University of Virginia. The familiarity might help Moses get into the offense and start from day one.
The Miami Dolphins have not had a stable right tackle on their roster since Verner Carey left the team a while back. The team have experimented with yearly castoffs from Colombo to Clabo, which have proved very disappointing and sometimes disastrous. Moses is been projected to go in the late 1[SUP]st[/SUP] round to early second. But if I were Miami, If this is your guy go and get him even at 19[SUP]th[/SUP].
That move would end a five year misery for the team and give them a guy who could come in right away and play left tackle in case Albert goes down. Moreover, they will be getting a solid player who will give them versatility to deal with injuries or shift as needed based on other personnel moves. He has all the physical traits needed, with a little refinement and decent talent around him on the offensive line, he could plug and play right away in 2014 and help upgrade a historically dismal 2013 performance from Miami’s Oline.
Watching his game video highlights, it is clearly easy to see that Moses is a very good run blocking tackle. He will remind Dolphin fan of Long’s early years. Moses will “part the sea” for Miami running game. Amen!
