Like Sparano, Belichick and Jaguars head coach Jack DelRio visited Gainesville to explore Meyer's spread option.

"The NFL coaches that win are the ones who have the ability to adapt, whether it's to the West Coast or the spread offense," Meyer says.

This man tries to get every bit of info on how to make this team better..but I hate the fact that belichick checked out gainville too..which mean that we may have some competition if we were planning to pick Havey.. the pats may have some the same ideas as we had.

Back to Sprano, if he's getting ideas from Myer's spread O, we could see the wildcat really expand this year.. Our O might really be exciting..and the hybird player, Harvey, white or whomever may play a big part..I can't wait for the draft to see which Offensive hybird we get...

That's interesting. I wonder how well myers offense would work in the NFL if it was used as much as they use it. Even though I'm sure we are just adding a wrinkle to the wildcat every now and then (that would be my guess anyway)

Thanks to teams like Arizona and New England, the spread offense is becoming more and more popular in the NFL and getting first hand knowledge of how Urban Meyers run his spread offense, which is similar to the our version of the Wildcat, only gives us more options to use out of that formation. If we can implement ways to use the Wildcat out of our base formation/personnel, that would be another wrinkle teams have to prepare for and also give our playmakers more opportunities to make plays.

The more looks an offense can give a defense, the greater the chance for the defense to make a mistake and the more opportunities the offense has to capitalize on them.

Based on today's picks, it looks like we will be moving to some version of the spread offense. Not exactly sure how Henne fits in with that plan, but our O is going to be fun to watch.

sparano is a straight up nfl coach. he gives it to ya as it is. he doesnt sugar coat things

Meyer and Belichek are tight he visits gainesville anyways

Now I start to understand the Pat White pick

Are you kidding? The pats ran the spread the year before last and almost went undefeated. Welker was the key to their spread coming from texas tech, another hot spot for the spread O.

Everyone always mixes up whether the first vowel in Tony's name is an o or an a. Heh you decided to eliminate it all together, thus solving the problem. Nicely done.

If Pat White is what the staff thinks he is, and when/if he starts, the Miami Dolphins will be running the spread offense.

We ran the most watered down basic version with Ronnie in the Wildcat and had awesome success. I can see why Ireland and Parcells began to realize that a spread offense attach ran by a tactician like Pat White may really work in the NFL. I wonder if they feel than a new offensive philosphy is the best way to attack the sudden increase in 3-4 schemes.

I've never been a big fan of trying to re-invent the game at the pro level, but Pat White is the clearest indication that the spread offense is in the works for out team. We have the personnel to now.

Let's be clear here, there is no unified spread offense theory. It is merely a general strategy by which an offense stretches a defense so much that one small mistake means a big play. Meyers and Rodriguez run a spread-to-run (know as a spread-option), where teams like Oklahoma and Texas Tech have a spread-to-pass.

But yes, I do see some spread offense variant being employed in Miami in the next couple of years. I was on my way to work and trying to make sense of this draft and the only answer I could think of was if the team is going spread. That wouldn't really surprise me since Henning pretty much broke out the Run n Gun playbook last season, so it wouldn't be like Chicago going to the spread. It's really telling that when Turner was asked during his Q&A what he did well, he specifically mentioned option and stick routes, which are mainstays of both the WCO and spread systems like the Run 'n Shoot. That also tells me Devone Bess is pretty safe, since he probably still has dreams/nightmares about June Jones' playbook.

i wonder.

if the dolphins would have taken percy harvin, had he still been there at #25.

IF they did, would they have passed on pat white?

can percy throw the ball? if not then he would be limited to only running or handing off. i dont know how good ronnie brown can throw, but ive only seen him do it once.

and the biggest limitting factor of the wildcat last year was our weakend O-line. that doesnt look to be problem this year. atleast not at the start.

Don't it. He took snaps, but Florida mostly runs so I don't think he's ever done more than Ronnie throwing it.
