Throw to clay with defender blanketing him. Only an elite throw completes this pass. Tannehill has ALOT to clean up but i think we need to at least stick with him to see if he develops.

he has showed me plenty to want give him the benefit of the doubt. He is still a work in progress, but to an intelligent fan, the upside is definitely there.

HE has the skill set, the arm talent, but he is still learning the game...He will be the starting QB for the rest of this season and next season at the very least...

Just wish he could close it out man. That's it. Just winning drives. All I want. Wins.

Consistency .... until he gets that, he's nothing. And .... I'm speaking as a guy who has defended him tooth and nail in the forum.

This is the ability that sets Tannehillapart from the others in his draft class IMHO. He is the most accurate thrower of the ball. He repeatedly threads the needle and fits balls into tight windows.

His completion percentages and INT numbers do not fully reflect it yet, but they will over the course of his career. He is the mmost precise thrower among all the young QB's and he can thread the needle in a truly elite class with Rodgers and Brady, which over time will see him rise to the top eschelon of NFL QB's. IMHO, he is a more precise thrower than Luck, Wilson, RGIII, Dalton, Newton, Kaepernick and any other young QB in the last few years I may have missed. Tannehill truly has pin-point accuracy delivering the football.

He lacks experience, he hasn't become a great decision maker yet (but he is a student of the game, very intelligent, and a tireless worker, so he will eventually get there), but he will be.

He definitely needs more reps to improve his vision, and more time with his receivers, and better technique holding onto the ball, but his level of precision is special and can not be taught.

I'm excited about Tannehill's development.

I don't really question that Tannehill has an NFL arm, capable of making NFL throws.

It's just his decision making he really needs to improve and pocket awareness. If he improved his pocket awareness I think it would make a lot of those on the fence become pro-tannehill.

I think mental toughness and consistency will come with time as he gains more valuable experience. Obvious the O-Line isn't helping his confidence and he's not helping himself with the mental errors. But honestly I don't understand how possibly benching him is even a question (I'm not saying anyone in this thread, but I've seen the "where would we be with Moore" threads). We knew we drafted a project and most typical QB's take at least three years to develop. I'm not passing judgement on him until closer to the end of next season.

If THill isn't given the proper amount of time to develop, then the QB Merry-Go-Round that we've been on for 14 years will not soon stop. Whether this coaching staff is capable of developing and helping THill grow, is another discussion all together.

Yeah, the guy can make some throws, but he's got a 10-cent head, brah. He loses his water, puts the ball on the ground, stares down primary targets, throws at his first read even when covered.
Everything below the neck is top-notch though, no doubt.

He's got the skills, the ability and the work ethic BUT the only thing he is consistent at is turning the ball over. He is a liability in the pocket and cannot feel pressure when its there. He takes too long to get rid of the ball and STILL eyes down his receiver. There is a lot of up side to RT but the downsides are CRITICAL! He needs to fix them and fix them fast or he will not last in the NFL like David Carr/Jesse Palmer.

The player who touches the ball the most has the duty to his team to PROTECT the ball. If you can't do that exit stage right. Pennington could not make all the big time throws but he made good use out of the space between his ears.

Russell and Leaf could make big throws also but could not read a defense to save their careers

Why do I think the people around Jeff George and Ryan Leaf their first couple of years were saying the same things about their potential ....

No one is questioning RT's potential and physical ability. Every question stems from his intangibles and, to a lesser extent, his accuracy. Does he have the will to be great? The NEED to be great? I don't know that, and that's the biggest factor in whether he improves. Well, that and if he'll ever get a feel for the pass rush, when to scramble, when to get ride of the ball ... I honestly don't know how you teach a QB that. It seems like something you either have or you don't.

Meh. There are QB's out there that are turning out good too that didn't start off too hot and were crucified by their hometown media. Many people were saying Newton isn't accurate enough, a Diva, and turns the ball over too much. "Scam Newton" . He was willing to change his attitude in the offseason. Continued to improve and has his team at 4-3 and hopefully he continues to improve. I'm just hoping Tannehill can improve his pocket awareness and protecting the ball. What about Eli Manning who people said would never win the big game and was being carried by his defense every season. Eli had some pretty terrible early seasons. He was almost ran out of town too. Sometimes you just have to live with the growing paints of a young NFL QB. Not every QB is going to catch on as quick as Luck or Wilson. I hope Tannehill can improve. I haven't given up on him.

You can't really compare either of those guys to Ryan Tannehill. Ryan Tannehill has big issues that he needs to improve, but he is not a social retard (like Leaf) or pure locker room poison (George) -- at least not that we know of.

How about the throw that Clay got his hands on but couldn't hang on? Another nice throw. Keep in mind Jesus Christ, or Robert Griffin III to some people, has more fumbles than Tannehill does since last year.

But not one person ever mentions that.
