Another throw by tannehill in tight window elite type throw

Yeah, but I don't think anyone knew those guys had those issues before they were drafted, either. Same with Heath Shuler, JaMarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Mark Sanchez, etc., etc.

Point is NFL history is littered with QBs that had the tools but didn't make it for whatever reason.

I like tannehills short to intermediate accuracy but am concerned about the long ball. He appears to finesse his long ball which leads to sailing passes. The throw to Gibson comes to mind and he has overthrown hart line on curl routes as well. It used to be Wallace couldn't be overthrown but he has repeatedly under thrown him to where he had to lose stride and wait for the ball. Much of this is probably the result of him getting his brains beaten in and him not trusting what he see's but he is raw and we need to remember that.

The coaching staff needs to stop trying to make him into something he isn't. The great coaches understand that you play to your qb's strengths or draft a guy that fits your scheme and get skill players who do as well and most importantly olinemen that are athletic enough to perform the blocking scheme.

Pocket presence and vision - the two things he needs the biggest improvement in... the tools are there... hoping for the best.

Point is, we don't know one way or the other, so there is no point in calling for him to be benched

See, I don't think he's even all that accurate on the short and intermediate routes. He rarely hits guys where they don't have to adjust, even when they are wide open. Sometimes he does and I just wonder "why can't he do this more often?"

I think he locks onto his primary receiver way too much, too. Even when he hit Sims for that game-winning catch, I think the FB was all alone on the right side of the end zone. Sims made a heck of a catch on that play, and, to be fair, Tannehill's accuracy was pinpoint on that throw.

I never called for him to be benched. I think that would be the worst thing, and I've said that in several other threads. This system has been put in with him in mind. It fits especially him. He gives us the best chance for success of the QBs on our roster now, and I think he's the guy so long as he's healthy and the current regime is here.

However, that doesn't make him a good NFL QB either. And we have a 23-game sample to make projections on whether he has it or doesn't.

That was an excellent throw. The one that Clay dropped in the final minutes of the first half was also pretty nice.

Ryan has plenty of upside, but the truth is his turnovers are killing us. It's perfectly okay to feel excited about his potential but it's also perfectly okay to be concerned about his fumbling issues and the way he keeps taking sacks at crucial moments in the game.

I'm pretty sure everyone wants Ryan to be our guy, we all want to win and win NOW. But he has been struggling lately and that's something we can't overlook.

Once again the positives are alluring, but it's all about total Qb play:

Net Qb Play = Net Positive - Net Negative

His net negatives have directly resulted in 4 straight loses. It doesn't matter how many "tight" window throws he can make. Everyone touts his intelligence, yet our hurry up is laborious and bumbling. Let's run a hurry up O, yet take 15 more seconds making sure everything is all tidy and lined up before snapping the ball.

Come on Tannehill, let's get going! Nope. Come on Tannehill throw the dang ball! Nope. Come on Tannehill hit someone deep downfield in stride! Nope.

We've got a 23 game sample size now, it's safe to start making some conclusions. One being we shouldn't draft project Qbs in the 1st round. Try doing that in 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds.

Dolphin fans expect Marino speed success. We're forever spoiled and don't understand the patience of letting a kid who shows obvious flashes or elite play develop and learn.

I don't think that's the case anymore. I think Dolphin fans have seen plenty of awful-to-mediocre QB play post-Marino to know better. They want something Marino-like, and I think maybe that's why some of them are excusing Tannehill's deficiencies.

As for having patience with him, tell the organization that. If they thought he wasn't ready, they should have gotten a stop-gap QB to play while RT got ready. Heck, they did get two of them, and one is still on the roster. They think he's the guy, they put in the system to make his learning curve the easiest it could possibly be. We got all these weapons to put around him. We were told that was all he needed. Well, it looks like that wasn't all that was needed.

hes got big time talent for sure. he's been cursed to be in a class with guys who are performing at a high level faster then normal. thus he is measured against his draft peers like Russell, rg3 and luck. dalton and Newton also had good rookie years so hes measured against lofty standards. he will most likely end up better then every young qb not named luck
