Another black eye for wrestling and at the worst possible time.

John Kronus former ECW star and tag team partner of Perry Saturn was found dead in his girlfriend's apartment. No word on the cause but you can be sure the media will have a field day with this especially the anti-WWE people.

It should be noted that Kronus was never employed by the WWE.

Former ECW wrestler George "John Kronus" Caiazo was found dead today at his girlfriend's apartment in New Hampshire. No other details are available at the moment. Kronus underwent a knee operation (possibly a knee replacement, which a few people said a few months that he was going to have) last week.

Kronus is perhaps best known as half of the tag team "The Eliminators" with Perry Saturn in ECW, where he feuded with The Pitbulls, The Public Enemy, The Gangstas, and Rob Van Dam & Sabu. During much of 1996 and 1997, The Eliminators were pushed as "The Best Tag Team in the World." He was a 3-time ECW Tag Team Champion with Perry Saturn. He also held the title one other time with New Jack. The Eliminators broke up in August 1997 when Perry Saturn tore his ACL in a match. Instead of having surgery, Saturn jumped to WCW to become a singles star, thus leaving Kronus behind. The two never teamed again. After Kronus broke up with New Jack, he was pushed down the card and primarily used in a lower card enhancement position. He left the company sometime in 1999.

After a brief run in XPW, Kronus retired from wrestling in 2002. He worked the final "Hardcore Homecoming" event, "November Reign" in November 2005, losing to Balls Mahoney in what may have been the final match of his career.

The Eliminators were one of the best tag teams. Their finisher Total Elimination was great.

Good post, bro

RIP Kronus... sad news.

Saturn and Kronus were really good together in their heyday. and you are right, Total Elimination was awesome to see when they timed it right.

He had been retired for some 5 years.

Once again, PEOPLE DIE!!!!!! It's part of life. It wasn't like this guy was "living the pro wrestling lifestyle" and dropped dead! He had been removed from the businesss for a while

Kronus had knee replacement surgery last week according to some reports. Wonder if something happened there

Kronus seemed to really let himself go towards the end, much like a lot of the ECW guys. I fully expect a lot of them to go over the next few years. I had friends in that locker room and from all accounts, they were pretty much party animals. Drugs, sex, alcohol and Hayman was no saint himself. Most nights, these guys from ECW were high as a kite out there. You had to be to do what they were doing.

Perry Saturn, a few years back, was asked about his thoughts on Kronus and to paraphrase, he said, "Te business has passed him up. It has changed and he seems to be stuck in the same gear he is always in. If he isn't careful the end could be near for him." I am pretyt sure he meant about his career and not his life. But chilling nonetheless.

I used to love hearing Joey Styles go nuts with the "TOTAL ELIMINATION!"

If he had surgery a week ago, I wonder if he may have died from a staph infection or something similar to what Candido died from? I suspect an OD on painkillers and booze, but I guess we will have to wait until the toxicology gets out.

In the meantime, just when wrestling was about to bob and weave out of this national media mess with Benoit's case dieing down, this comes along. I expect a whole new firestorm from the usual ones once they pick up on this. By next week we will all see Marc Mero, Steve Blackman and the other usual suspects making the rounds saying "I told you so," and condemning WWE and McMahon evenif Kronus never did work for ihm.

Its just sad because no one will remember that a man has died here and instead he will be used to push certain people's agendas...
