Saban on Free Agency:
“I know you’re going to ask me about free agency. You’re going to ask me about our free agents and I’m going to tell you this, the process is to evaluate the guys on our team and then evaluate the free agents, which have already been evaluated by our personnel people, make a determination and comparison between our players and how we can improve ourselves in free agency with people that we have an opportunity to get. I’ve talked to you before about our salary cap situation being a little bit better than what it’s been in the past. That doesn’t mean the availability of free agents is going to be good at a certain position where we need someone. That’s what you have to evaluate. All that stuff is relative to the players you have and who you can get in free agency. We’re looking forward to getting into the personnel side of what we have to do to improve our team. It’s a time for the players to rest right now and recover from the season. They played a lot of ball man, a lot of ball and a lot of practice. Not having to practice today or going out on that field seems like something is missing in life, but those guys have been doing that since July 24th or whenever and that’s a lot of ball. They need time to rest and recover, but when March rolls around we’ll start working on the physical improvement side of it. We do want our players to make good choices and decisions about what they do, so that it doesn’t reflect poorly on them physically or on their personal character.â€Â
