Flores and the new DC both have history with a 3-4 defense. We haven’t ran a 3-4 in years and don’t have the personnel for it currently but FA and draft could change that. I know it’s a premature question since they aren’t even technically hired yet. But anyone think that could be a possibility?

I think it could be good if we are serious about rebuilding our defense this year and focusing on offense next year. I’d be interested to see the Raekwon McMillan and Jerome Baker as the inside guys, and Charles Harris + a rookie at OLB (Jachai
Polite possibly)

Zero chance, if anything it will be a version of Saban 4/3 OE. A lot more wrinkles and multiple fronts but the pure 3/4 two gap favored by Parcels and other former staffs not a chance.

When was the last time we ran a 3-4? I honestly can't remember. Like 2006?

What are the technical advantages to ,3-4?

I don't see any, other than it may suit a teams personnel better. Which in our case, it doesn't, so why do it?

IMO 3-4 straight up is obviously predicated on a MONSTER NT -- a position almost impossible to fill

and even if you do -- that dudes career is gonna be truncated via the punishment. Some think

Vincent Taylor could be NT but he better get good insurance and beef to at least 330 before

applying for the position! Safer to play some hybrid stuff and get as many dominant

athletes on the field as you can muster -- then move your chess pieces around

in a way that makes your D difficult to preread and help create some mistakes

on the opposing OL and QB. That said, the BEST D I ever saw was

Czonka + Little + Kuch + Langer = 9 min. drives.

PS:

>>> another focking stupid bowl I refuse to watch!

Why change it? WIDE 9 was fantastic
So you think 4-3 is only wide nine?

I'm certainly not in favor of continuing with Burke's philosophy, but that has nothing to do with what the actual advantages/disadvantages of changing to 3-4 are.

Expect Miami to use more DB's.

Well, in fairness, that was against the chiefs.

NE has the ability to change up defensive scheme week to week, or even within a game, depending on opponent.

I do think the league is moving towards more nickel/dime in general.
