what is his deal??? are the jets going to release him and, if so, whats his price tag??? :cooldude:

Nothing yet, and we'd pick up his current deal + a mil or so most likely.

At this late date, they won't be inquiring about a trade, and he is still the property of the Jests...Until they cut or trade him...no news...

So we are going to pay Pete Kendell 4 million?

his current deal is 1.7 million. He is only asking for an additional 1 million in which the Jets promised him last year to repay when he accepted to resctructure his contract

Patience. I believe the last word was that the Jets planned to release him on the even of training camp. Their rookies report the 23rd, and their camp starts I think maybe the day after ours does.

Ok my mistake thought it was 2.7. I would give him 1 year deal at 3 or a two year deal with limited bonus. Still think he was not very bright redoing his deal with out getting something at the back end or front end to compensate.

Contracts not promises. we all see how honest NFL teams are with players.

Absolutely. He should have covered himself in all aspects to make sure he would get his million back...The limited bonuses sounds better to me but he probably wants 2.7 gaurnteed after this ordeal

Even contracts in todays NFL mean pretty much nothing. PLayers under contract are always getting released and contract holdouts are as common as houseflies

Still why ***** if you screwed yourself, but of course daunte is the only person that ever decided he would not renogotiate a contract to help a team trade him. Daunte is definately satan.

Please dont turn this into a Daunte thread. This is a Pete Kendall thread. There are more than enough Daunte threads to go around these days...You're right, he did screw himself. But only because he trusted his employer whom he has been employed with for 3 years. I would put some sort of trust into my employer as well, and most likely, that would be my downfall as well

funny thing is when they talk about all the guaranteed money in the big deals, how much of that is future roster bonuses? the only real guaranteed money in the NFL is the signing bonus

I heard some fools on the radio talking about how weak the NFLPA was and that all the money should be guaranteed like the NBA

if all the money was guaranteed, they wouldn't have to wear pads

Well to go to your point and sorry to go to your point lets suppose something about daunte. Lets say Daunte trusted that cameron would give him a fair shot and not evaluate him until he was healthy and it would be an open competition. So lets say he trusted the Dolphins would give him a chance because of things that were said to him personally. Now lets say that what he was told turned out to be a bunch of crap. Would his actions make any more sense to you. I mean I see people defending Kendell threatening to hold out an avoid mini camps, I just don't see what daunte did as being intrinsically worse than what any other player did or is doing. I guess what I am saying we seem to give one guy alot more leeway in our feelings toward what he has done and we basically dont know all the things that were said personally to either player. We dont know really what was told to Daunte at any time so for people to hate on him as they do really makes no sense, while we seem to give other players a free pass.
