Nothing against any of the other potential candidates for the HC position, but I've got this gut feeling we will regret it if we do not hire Dave Toub. He'll get a chance somewhere soon and will turn out to be the Tomlin or Harbaugh we've missed out on in the past. Hope I'm wrong.

Not only him but Chud too. I like Zimmer but we really need the right choice made this time.

I dont have that feeling. There have been plenty of job opening past few years and nobody interviewed him. His own team made Marinelli of the 0-16 fame assistant head coach over him. Maybe he will be a good coach but when he proves himself on something other than special teams then I will be on board.

Someone (I think it was Slimm) brought up the fact that our HC interview with him may have really been an interview for special teams coordinator as his contract with the Bears is up. The Bears had exclusive negotiating rights for a period, but couldn't keep him from interviewing for a HC opening. This seems like a very plausable scenario to me, especially seeing as no other team has interviewed him for a HC opening.

See that would be a great idea but Im sure to leave Chicago he wants a promotion

It is certainly possible. The only coach on the team that has to deal with more players than the special teams coach is the head coach. This guy and John Harbaugh are close. Dave Toub has said that he patterns his coaching style after Jim Harbaugh's. It is very possible that teams are passing on the next John Harbaugh here.

Mike Zimmer, Dave Toub, and Todd Bowles are my top three guys anyway.

anything is possible but teams dont respect the special teams coach much as in looking at head coaches. Hell Harbaugh did not get an interview until he was defensive backs coach. I cant say I blame teams because Oc's and dc's have much more responsibility

It would be fun to have a special teams unit that actually helps this team win games and strike some fear into our opponents.

I have been a big Toub supporter for a long time. He's an enthusiastic players coach who is smart and knows how to motivate. Respected around the entire league.
