Looking at Jamar Taylor's work so far his season, I have a feeling that The Patriots are going to use some formation adjustments to repeatedly isolate him in one-on-one situations. Jamar has never proven to be smart enough to recognize route options and make early breaks on the ball, nor is he quick enough to allow a receiver some cushion and then break on the throw. He usually tackles well, but he took a really poor angle on one of Nate Washington's TDs last week and whiffed on a tackle.

I think Jamar's strengths run counter to what we ask our corners to do. Everyone is worried about stopping Gronk, Edelman, Amendola, and Blount. I think Brady is going to repeatedly pick on Taylor. Watch for Brandon LaFell to have a big night.

If the Patriots isolate LaFell with Taylor then it's a win for us. Taylor has been awful but LaFell is just as bad for the Patriots. I would be more worried about any other WR for the Patriots.

I believe the Patriots will attack Taylor and our weak LBs. And I don't think we'll be able to do anything against it.

More important than anything else is the play of our D line. If we can "Giants" them as they did in both Super Bowls, get pressure consistantly from the front four...which we are built for and pressure Brady we have a good chance. If they come out anything close to how they played in the first four games, we will get picked apart.

He had a bad first game which happened to be his first game of the year coming back from a foot injury. I would hardly call that indicative of his play/career overall, he damn near had 1000 yards and 7 TDs last year alone, probably from teams underestimating him LOL.

On the other hand Taylor looks bad week in and week out, so I'd say there's a huge difference between the 2 players.

Taylor got owned by Nate Washington. The DL will have to be in Brady's face constantly to mask Taylor's deficiencies.

I think Taylor could be a decent press man corner, but he doesn't have the fluidity for zone. His backpedal and change of direction (Hoop's Hips Syndrome) mean that he has to give his man a huge cushion - often even longer than the distance to the first down marker. SO he gives up a huge amount underneath (fatal against NE) and a decent route runner can get position on him as Washington did. He does good work downhill and could be a tough press matchup for a #2 or #3 receiver. But the way he's playing now, he's inviting coaches to hit him underneath again and again and for good receivers to get leverage on him and beat him deep.

I can only assume we've tried to reduce his cushion in training and it was ugly. The sooner Bobby McCain can take over there, the better. I thought Jamar was a decent pick at the time and his college tape was pretty good, but he's got to find a way to stick with receivers without handing them free first downs underneath. Otherwise, we have to try Bobby. Brice is strictly a nickel guy, imo.

I think taylors scheme issues are more about awareness than they are hips

that said i'd REALLY be worried about any current roster option replacing him as the starting boundary this season...brice mccain physically wears a target run and pass game

I'm worried about the side opposite Grimes. We just don't have a capable cb to use
Brady surely knows our backers suck too and I bet he's salivating. On the flip side, he probably has diarrhea watching tape of Wake, OV, and Suh last two games. Hit him often and hard and we have a chance, won't be easy to do though.

Been saying for ages that Taylor was an issue coming into this season...haven't seen anything to change my mind...

That's always been the formula for beating him. We do it as well as anyone else.

if we lose because of Lafell vs taylor, i can live with that then.

lafell will start making plays for them...he's working off time down due to injury rust

That 2013 draft is a miracle. Dion Jordan, Jamar, Caleb Sturgis, Will Davis, Gilleslee, Dallas Thomas. On accident, a baby could do better.
