Anyone have any information on A.J. Edds?

I was stated in a press conference that Burnett can cover the TE and he has great range and mobility. This was one of our weaknesses on defense that the Patriots and Jets always exploited. When teams needed a big play, they would gash Crowder. If this guy is as good as advertised, that weakness should be solidified. Good move by Ireland.

I am not sold on Edds. He may be useful but he really hasn't made any kind of impact.
In the two practices of last training camp he was in before he tore his acl?
As a hawkeye fan I can tell you he is exactly as advertised. Norm parker didn't change his personnel groups on D at all. He was IA's "nickel corner" always lined up on the slot rec or covered the rb out of the backfield. He had 5 picks his senior yr at IA and was sorely missed last year... Norm didn't blitz really, so he's real inexperienced at that aspect.

That was my point. He has not made any impact because he was injured and on the shelf. He was very good in college, but this is the NFL. Until I see him making plays in a game that counts, I will not be sold on him. Right now he is a very good prospect with a year under his belt. Burnett is a NFL starter, and possibly an upgrade over Crowder. Edds has a long way to go.

The argument you make can be made about EVERY rookie or 1st yr player (Edds is a 1st yr player since he was on IR last yr). Its almost as if some of you just want to play devils advocate over every player and I would argue that you are stating the obvious. By your logic, you shouldn't be sold on ANY rookie of 1st yr player regardless of their college resume'.
Quick, name ONE rookie in NFL history who has made an impact in a regular season NFL game BEFORE he took the field.

That is correct. College resumes go out the window once the player reaches the pro's.
Quick, name a few college players that won the Heisman Trophy or were award winners in college that did not pan out in the pro's. College resume gets them drafted, the ability to adjust to the pro game makes them starters.

the beat reporters are saying Edds looks healthy. Omar's tweet was something like "he looks healthy, thank god for that".

Edds is gonna be a good player IMO. The thing he has going for him is that he is very good in coverage.

From the pic on the sentinel's website he looks like he's bulked up a little in the last year... That's a good sign but hopefully he didn't lose any speed
