I cant help but think Hickey's hand may have been forced. Reason; he was basically brought here to be a yes man. Although I like that everyone was on the same page, from the outside looking in, it definately looks like he was brought in to mold the team the way Philbin see's it. This could be a good thing, but IMO opinion it doesn't look that good. I mean, we all know we reached at the number 1. The good thing about James is, WE DIDNT DRAFT AN INJURED PLAYER!!! We had to be in panic mode for whatever reason. But logically, it made wAAAAAAY more sense to trade back. Every lineman worth taking in the first was gone. Plus CJ mosley was gone too. I hate the Ravens soooo bad for that by the way. But Maybe because of all the years of bad drafting with this team, maybe that made them desperate to get the next RT before someone else did. Drafting scared it seemed like. Am I off on this or does it even matter at this point?

Considering Tampa Bay didn't draft a single OL in the past 4 years, yea his hand was probably forced to take an OT. That doesn't mean he had to take a 2nd rounder at #19 overall though.

Yeah his hand was forced by Jeff Ireland screwing up our O-line something royal. He took a position of need with the highest rated player on the board at that position. I trust John Benton was heavily consulted in the evaluation and considering Benton had one of the best ZBS O-lines in the league for years in Houston I'll give the Dolphins the benefit of doubt on the pick until proven otherwise. Not a sexy pick but at some point we'll get this freakin O-line fixed and not have to worry about drafting O-line every flippin year.

oh come on!!!!!

ENOUGH of the yes man hickey nonsense. he IS the gm, doesnt answer to philbin. he picks ALL the players, not philbin.

i am sure he got with ALL the coaches and went over who they liked and what position should be addressed early, including philbin. but "forcing his hand"?

it's silly. philbin absolutely does not have that kind of juice.

i think he needed a RT and got one

huh? what in the hell does tampa bays drafting have ANYTHING to do with us as well as HICKEY guy who wasnt the gm there?

hickey didnt make the decisions, mark dominic THE GM did. everyone keeps posting like hickey made all the picks in tampa.

come on people!!! pick it up!!!!

If you manage your team running scared...you will never make the moves that put you ahead.

No Balls no blue chips....the right move was take the trade down.

bro, you really dont think Hickey is a yes man? Even with the way he was brought in where they basically told him he cant make any of the moves most GM's would make when they come to a new job?? Im actually glad they did that because i like our new OC and O line coach but cmon maayun! JJ at 19 when he had the chance to gain another pick in the so called deepest draft in years and still get JJ???
