There's an inevitable consequence to the Miami Dolphins' defense being No. 3 in the NFL against the run – passing. The Dolphins' defensive backs are getting peppered at a NFL-high rate of 44.5 pass attempts per game.
"When you've got our front seven playing the way they're playing teams have no other choice but to put the ball in the air a lot," Miami safety Reshad Jones said.

Tennessee could break the mold this week because the Titans feature running back Chris Johnson, who earned the moniker "CJ2K" after rushing for 2,006 yards in 2009. Johnson has rushed for 221 yards on 46 carries (4.8 yards per carry) in two career games against Miami. So far this season he's rushed for 736 yards on 147 carries (5.0 ypc).

However, the Titans also bring a respectable receiving trio among Nate Washington, Kenny Britt and rookie Kendall Wright. Washington (30 receptions, 478 yards, four touchdowns), Britt (57 receptions, 276 yards, one touchdown), and Wright (42 receptions, 381 yards, three touchdowns) have showed big-play and possession receiving skills.

Yes and that is exactly what you want. We want to make teams one dimensional. The problem is our secondary isnt making big plays. We need turnovers and we just arent making the play as often as we would like.

This teams biggest problems in pass D is when they don't send pressure. Like at the end of the AZ game. When you only send 3 pass rushers, and play off the WRs it equals big gains in the passing game. Like all those 3rd down conversions for Luck last week. You send 5+ and play press coverage, redirect the route and throw off the timing. This D won't stop anyone if the DB's play 11 yards off the LOS. You send heavy pressure, and play run on the way to the QB. (and check with the refs before the game, to see if holding is going to be legal like it was for the colts, just so you know what you are up against!)

Attack the weakest point of the enemy.

This is what was most disappointing in the COLTS game. We are terrified to get-up in the WRs face!!!

i dont understamd WHY you have to ask this?

rookie qb setting an nfl rookie record on us for over 400 yds?

every qb we face accept one putting up numbers WITH EASE?

throwing at will and completing passes. a lot of times with our deffenders hanging the qb only to see it completed 15 or more yds down field?

qbs 2 feet from being on the turf wing it and its a completion for a first down?

double teams by our defense [usually with all world #24 involved] constantly letting the wr make the catch?

our so called "best young cb in the nfl, sean smith [most over rated player in the nfl] CONSTANTLY getting burned by big plays. and plays in general.

nolan carroll.

richard marshall [smith needs to follow him out].

mediocre safetys.

so once again, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO ASK THIS?

Does anyone get the feeling that our run defense rating is directly related to our poor passing defense and not as good as the #3 ranking?

I haven't been that impresssed over the last 3 weeks. Those teams are taking the easy yards against our secondary.

But when that really wanted to run they have been able to be successful.

Were giving up over 120 yards a game for the last 3 and a 4.9 yard per attempt during that period.

Those type of stats would put you in the bottom 3rd of the league for rushing defense.

We have to get better in both areas of defense.
