Are We Cursed?

We wasted 17 years of the greatest qb in history. So now it will be 34 years of hell. Yes we are cursed !!!

we will be relevant again in 2033.

That's something to look forward to. I will be dead or a very old man. Hopefully, I don't get Alzheimer so I can remember the Dolphins when they are relevant again.:chuckle:

It does feel like Miami is snake bit, at least in terms of the offensive line. It has been such a challenging unit for the team for a good 10 years.

At the same time, every team has injuries and you've got to be able to handle a few of them. It's too bad it was the Dolphins biggest free agent acquisition but hopefully Larsen will be okay as a replacement.

So the Indians revenge is to ensure Miami doesn’t win? Hysterical.

Lower ticket and merch sales is more money to lose at their casinos.

You think Hard rock stadium is a coincidence?

We've had an ego maniac make a HOF LEGEND Qb with no knees sprint to make hand-offs and restrict audibles.

We've had a running back who could beat a DB to the corner as easily as run over a LB quit due to using a substance that will soon be used medically/legally throughout the entire country.

A second coming coach that paid more attention to little debbies than the draft.

A Wes in the east that was a beast (even as a Phin) but used correctly by the cheats.

A conference with a team that can do no wrong (too much luck) while doing a lot of questionable wrongs.

A bully scandal where the bully goes on to pro bowls and the bullied on to pro hand-guns.

And while I missed a lot more such as referees seemingly always receiving memos on behalf of EFing the EF out of us uncontrite yet most consistent, the custard icing on our cursed cake need really be the only thing listed: We had a freakin coach film himself doing lines before setting off to coach lines.

A cocain on camera clusterfk, people. Need anything else be mentioned.

Did I mention Avery over I like to forget. Culpepper over I'll never forget. Yatil that forgot his ACL.:dead:

Cursed is an understatement

We're not cursed. Losing SItton is a blow, because he was our big free agent signing, and he's an excellent football player that was brought in to finally shore up a position where we have been dreadful for SEVEN YEARS.

But really, Sitton kind of proves the point that Miami must strongly reevaluate how the team goes about scouting and developing players on the offensive line. Look at all of the decent OL players we have right now:

1. Tunsil - FIRST ROUND PICK - was considered one of the elite prospects in the draft until a draft-day scandal.
2. James - FIRST ROUND PICK.
3. Sitton - FREE AGENT - came here as a veteran
4. Kilgore - TRADE - came here as a veteran
5. Jesse Davis - UDFA
6. Larsen - FREE AGENT - came here as a veteran

Maybe I'm being generous including Larsen in there, because he wasn't great last season, but he also had a rather serious injury he was playing through. But anyway, the point here is that outside of first round draft choices, Miami has been basically unable to find and develop any competent OL out of college. Sitton, Kilgore, and Larsen were all brought in from outside after they had been scouted and developed by other organizations. Jesse Davis right now appears to be the exception that proves the rule. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.

This is an institutional organizational problem, and until the morons who run the show in Miami figure out how to identify and coach serviceable offensive linemen, the Dolphins are going to continue to be stuck in this hellish situation of needing to either burn first round draft picks on corn (nobody likes that) or signing old veterans whose bodies are starting to break down and will miss time with injuries. It also means that our depth is going to continue to be awful along the OL.

Quite frankly, this entire situation is disgusting and we've been in this boat since the damn Sparano years. I mean really, you can argue that since the JJ years, the team has struggled to find and develop offensive linemen. It's an ingrained problem for the Miami Dolphins and at this point I think we have to consider the fact that it's not just coaching or whichever yahoo is currently at the top of the hierarchy. This is a problem that starts with the scouts and permeates throughout the building. Everything from strength and conditioning, to positional coaching, to college scouting needs to be evaluated here. And until that happens and positive changes are made, this team is going to continue to be cruddy in the trenches when it has the football.

Cowboys have done it through the draft...you want a strong offensive line, follow their formula...I'm a glass half full or can be refilled type guy so i'm not getting down on this injury...Larsen will hold his own and we'll be ok...you know the Jets are going to pounce on that side of the line so perhaps Gase will get some options going in the opposite direction to neutralize that...go fins!!!!

Oh my god thank you. I feel like only a few people on this board understands that given our scouts have been here for 10+ years, and some being here for 20+, we’ve been **** at identifying talent. It’s absolutely mind boggling that we’ve never cleaned house in decades or added to our comically small scouting department. Anytime I’m on the Dolphins reddit people act like I’m crazy for pointing out how stingy and hapless Ross has been in this area.

I generally don't advocate putting people out of work, especially lower level people in the hierarchy whom I can't personally evaluate. I have no idea if our scouting department is actually forwarding good recommendations that are being ignored by Spielman, Ireland, Hickey, Tannenbaum, etc.

But at this point, I don't care. I think a top to bottom evaluation by an outside party needs to be conducted. Which scouts are recommending bum OL? Which scouts had recommendations ignored on guys who turned out to be good? THAT is what needs to be looked at right now.

At the very least, we need to add to our scouting department. We have 3 national scouts, 5 college scouts and 3 pro scouts. It’s not the smallest, but I’ve maintained that scouting departments in the NFL are small across the board. How does a three billion dollar organization get away with only 11 guys in talent evaluation and talent acquisition when talent IS the product?

These guys have to go through thousands upon thousands of players each! You’re going to miss a lot of guys due to that by itself. There is no reason as to why we shouldn’t have 30 college scouts alone, with each member of their respective regional group cross referencing each other and checking each others’ work. The amount of slip ups just speaks to absolutely poor intel.

The team we played on Sunday lost a big group of players. The Falcons have lost a number of guys already. We're actually surprisingly healthy right now.

there is a dan marino voodoo figure on display at the ripley's museum in st. augustine. ive seen it mutliple times with my own two eyes. this is the curse. he's wearing the white jersey with aqua pants which happens to be the worst uniform in nfl history. someone needs to eradicate this display and that will excercise the demons.

I confess, I've cursed at Miami many times the past 15 years.

Only way the football Gods can make this right is for Tua Tagovailoa to find his way onto the roster in 2020.

Until the oline is fixed with youth and some freaking coaching, Davie will always be 1 player from that 5 man unit in getting a junk punch.

You can not continue to rely on older vets with injury concerns. Smiley from SF had his issues, Grove has his issues...both physical nasty dogs...but couldn't stay healthy.

Oh well, one more hit on the oline and we will be witness to another spinning wheels in the mud type reality. And somehow this FO and CS will get another pass from some fans.
