The Miami Dolphins on Monday finished installing all their plays. That part of training camp has ended. From here on it will be about fine-tuning and preparing for opponents as players are expected to know what's in the playbooks iPads.

The Dolphins will begin preparing for Thursday's preseason-opener at Chicago against the Bears on Tuesday. (Yeah, there will be some light prep work for this game despite the fact most veterans will play no more than a quarter and probably less than that).

It is unlikely either linebacker Koa Misi (calf), or receiver Kenny Stills (calf) will play against the Bears. Neither has practiced since last week. Rookie running back Jay Ajayi (hamstring) also may be kept out of the game, although that decision is not yet made.

Monday's practice did not have the number of bombs from quarterback Ryan Tannehill that were on display Sunday. Sorry, just didn't happen.

Indeed, Tannehill didn't connect on his lone deep throw of the afternoon -- a close-but-no-cigar attempt to Rishard Matthews down the left sideline.

Matthews continued to nonetheless seize the opportunity given him in the absence of Stills. He took first-team snaps.

The right guard competition between Jacques McClendon and Billy Turner continued, with McClendon seemingly getting most of the first-team snaps early in practice and Turner getting them later in practice.

Me? I focused exclusively on McClendon in one helmet-to-helmet snap against Ndamukong Suh and it was unremarkable in that Suh did not beat the lineman, make him look silly, or make him cry. McClendon stood Suh up to a stalemate. (Hint: That's what you want from the offensive lineman).

So I can understand why the Dolphins are giving McClendon a good look now.

There may be some movement at the cornerback competition opposite Brent Grimes. That competition has been waged between third-year veteran Jamar Taylor and Brice McCain, who was acquired in free agency this offseason

*Philbin said veteran defensive tackle C.J. Mosley, unimpressive the first week or so of camp, has "come along the last couple of days."

Why did we sign Suh if he can't beat scrub lineman.

In all seriousness did finheaven, less Awsi Dooger who told us Turner wouldn't be a good guard, overrate Billy Turner?

McClendon late bloomer? Only been in the league 5 years, not like it hasn't happened before.

some of you guys are unbelievable. If Suh destroys a an individual, then he sucks, if the individual stands up to Suh then you guys complain about Suh not being great and overpaid. You can't please anyone NOW AND DAYS!!!! Everyone relax and take a chill pill!

I think he was being sarcastic though

But ....... Yeah , Idk . Proceed

If McClendon shines, give him the chance to start, I heard there is a former Eagle Guard that just happens to be looking for work, that did not look all that hot in Miami until he later became the best Guard in football.

Maybe Miami should continue to give McClendon the chance at starting, and try to bring in Mathis in to FINALLY fix this line.

my thoughts too. we cut Mathis, right?

Yes, Miami cut Mathis many years ago. But back then, we were running a power blocking scheme. Mathis clearly fit better in the Philadelphia / Chip Kelly ZBS read option offense, which Bill Lazor runs.

Billy Turner has been a tackle..
Billy Turner should still be a tackle..
Billy Turner will take another year or two to figure out the Guard position.
His run blocking im sure is fine right now, but the pass protection is a different beast

OK, so who is this Jacques McClendon dude?

Interesting, he set some pretty impressive records back in 2008 by Bench pressing an "astounding 645 pounds."

College: Tennessee (dang, didn't Dallas Thomas go there?)

Six seasons in the NFL. Bounced around from Indy to Detroit to Jacks and now My Yammie

according to NFLDraftScout.com: Short, squatty, powerful player with good upper-body strength. Provides an explosive initial pop off the line of scrimmage. Plays with a good base to handle the bull rush. Does NOT run around all fancy pants.

OK. The last sentence was mine, but you get the drift. This kid has power, solid base and doesn't get steamrolled all that easily. So from that we can invert the equation and realize Billy Turner's "problem" is that he is insufficiently powerful to stand up to the top bulls and tho light on his fancy pants feet CAN'T plant and hold ground.

Oh golly, like I said a while back -- POWER still wins on the LOS.

The accumulation we have of ZBS metro males playing G (G = Girly) ain't workin. Not in the real wOrld. Someone should tell Philbin.

Go out next offseason and get the OL guys who played against Suh regularly in the Lion's division. They will be battle tested to take on everyone else they come against.

If Suh can tell us his biggest problem to get around, then target that guy, lol.

I really don't want to make any judgements on the Oline from 2 weeks of practice and nothing but Intrasquad practices and scrimmages. You just can't make judgements unless its against real opponents. Just like Franks he may turn out to be a practice field all-star lets see him hit that 40 yarder when there are real defenses chomping at his heels.
