There seems to be no way to copy and paste the link or even part of the article, but go to miamiherald.com and read his blog. Most telling are the responses of the players to what happened.

But here’s the thing: A decision that on its face seemed an aggressive call was also done out of fear.

The Dolphins threw to gain a first down, sure. But they also threw because they feared putting Rodgers back on the field.

And when Philbin elected to run the ball on fourth-and-goal from the 1 in the first quarter, chasing a possible TD rather than settling for the certain field goal, which reeked of fear as well.

Philbin feared Rodgers was going to put up a bunch of points on his defense and he figured this was a solid chance to get more points of his own.

The Dolphins got stuffed. Got no points. The decisions failed.

This isn’t a takedown of Philbin. He gambled. He lost. It happens.

The problem is the Dolphins’ coach gambled multiple times and lost every single roll of the dice.

Every. Single. One.

At some point that is no longer gambling but rather simply losing.

He was correct to fear Rodgers, obviously. And he was correct to take some gambles to keep pace. Taking the gambles isn't the problem, the problem is we're forced to gamble with a bad hand. We remained aggressive right up until the end, and at some point you do have to switch over from aggressive to conservative to kill the clock and maybe we switched over one play too soon but you can't say we weren't aggressive all day, including a 4-2 pass to run ratio on that final drive.

In my coulda, woulda, shoulda opinion what we should have done was run some type of option play on second down, roll him out and take the easy pass if its there, if not scramble for what you can get and get down in bounds. For my money, that second down play with the ball in our hands was the ball game, that was our greatest opportunity to make things easy for ourselves instead of having to rely on Rodgers to **** up.

And whats with Wheeler complaining about having to cover somebody? I think he's doing better this season but what the **** kind of attitude is that?
