A Summit County judge issued an arrest warrant for Dennis Rodman on Wednesday after the former NBA star missed a court appearance to answer charges of speeding and reckless driving.
Rodman, 44, was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Breckenridge for a July 26 citation he received after being pulled over driving a reported 98 mph in a borrowed Lamborghini during a cross-country rally.
The warrant by Judge Russell Granger directs police anywhere in Colorado to arrest the former star, who spent the bulk of his 14 years in the NBA playing for the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons. "Basically he was summonsed to appear in court by the state patrol, and he didn't show up. Standard operating procedure is if you don't show up, you get a warrant out for your arrest," District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said. Rodman's agent, Darren Prince, said the missed court date was an oversight brought on in part because the two-time NBA all-star was stopped for speeding twice in Colorado and had a third legal tangle, accused of leaving a Glenwood Springs gas station without paying $40 for gasoline and a cowboy hat.
