Kings star won't confirm report he wants to spend more time with family
Mercurial forward Ron Artest wouldn't confirm or deny that he has told some Sacramento Kings teammates wants to retire at the end of the season to spend more time with his family, ESPN reported Sunday.
Artest told several teammates this week he wants to quit the NBA, ESPN reported, citing unnamed team sources.
"We can talk about it after (the) playoffs," Artest said by e-mail when asked about retiring, ESPN reported.
Artest is currently facing four misdemeanor charges stemming from a domestic dispute with his wife earlier this month.
A judge also has ordered him to stay at least 100 yards away from his wife and children until further notice.
Artest’s attorney, William Portanova, entered pleas of not guilty to charges of battery and corporal injury to a spouse, false imprisonment and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.
Artest is due back in court April 5.
