well sacks are a stat that have won many a player this award. I personally think James Harrison is having the best year of any OLB and possibly any defensive player. 12 sacks 67 tackles 1 int 4 PD and 4 forced fumbles
i'm hoping Porter gets it also,and even though i like the LB position the best on defense, that article on Kris Jenkins goes to show just how vital a good to great NT is to a successful 3-4 defense...

Nose tackles have a hard time winning because some of what they do does not fit into a stat sheet.

It'll probably come down to Haynesworth and Porter. If Porter manages to break the sack record, he's a lock for the award.

Article didn't mention that Joey Porter has 14 TFLs according to NFL stat sheets. Those TFLs are separate from sacks, too. Porter is making plays against both the run and pass. He has 18 QB Hurries and 14 TFLs for a total of 32 plays behind the line of scrimmage. As a comparison, they mention Tuck has 13 TFLs...but only 8.5 sacks.

you are right about that...and yet they do alot for a defense...
now that you mention that...and i think back on it,you're right...i haven't seen you around in a few days CK,or maybe i just didn't come across any posts if you were...what're your thoughts on this game this weekend?
