Purely speculation, but news is slow these days..

The six-time Pro Bowl receiver has been skipping offseason activities with the Texans and, despite a brief thaw in the relationship, has now told the team he does not want to continue to play for them. Could a trade be in future?
When that report surfaced, we took a look at the possibility of the Miami Dolphins being one of those four teams. Frankly, I do not see it happening.

Battle Red Blog, SB Nation's Texans site, however, sees it differently. They actually see the Dolphins as the team that could make the most sense in a Johnson trade:

The Andre Johnson controversy will be resolved one of two ways: He will report to the Texans under the terms of his contract, or he will sit out, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Johnson, one of the best receivers in NFL history, will not be traded for several reasons. The Texans want him to finish his career in Houston. They know they are a better team with him. And they don't want to set a precedent for similar situations that might develop in the future.

As the Texans get closer to reporting July 25, it is obvious that they are not going to guarantee any part of Johnson's contract, which calls for base salaries of $10 million (2014), $10.5 million (2015) and $11 million (2016).

If Johnson doesn't report for the regular season, he will give up $588,235 a week.

And there is the matter of Johnson's being fined for his absence. He was fined almost $70,000 for missing the mandatory minicamp. He can be fined $30,000 a day in training camp, and the Texans can recover a portion of his signing bonus if they choose to do it.

Or they can forgive and forget all those fines when he reports.

Texans are in a point of desperation. Andre's not happy. He's aging and has been injured lately. I'd offer them a fourth at most.

Wallace
Johnson
Hartline
Gibson
Matthews
Landry

There'd be room for it.

Serious question . . . is anybody trading Mike Wallace for Andre Johnson, straight up, if it's on the table?

Yeah thats what he wants to go play with schaub again... He wont go to the raiders or browns.. He will prob be a pat week 1 since thats how it works for us

Interesting. Who could we give up to get him? Can't think off the top of my head what the Texans need that we have. Would be fun to have someone like Andre as the much needed explosive possession man, but a pretty steep price for an aging receiver. Even with that being said, with no QB throwing him the ball on the Texans' off year he still tallied 1407 yards. Wonder if he fits in to Lazor's scheme. A lot to think about with this. Tannehill hasn't played with a a big time receiver in his career so it would be interesting to see how they would link up. Maybe a pipe dream, but since the off-season is a bunch of speculation, it is a fun thing to speculate about.

I'd seriously consider it. Him and Finnegan can be roommates on away games :chuckle:

If the Pats land him, then **** it all. Just, ****. it. all.

only makes sense for miami if you want to keep him away from new england...

What will really suck is...the Pats will probably get him for a conditional seventh...LOL

Any team that tries to trade for him must have the salary cap money available now. For the Pats it means cutting players to trade for him.

You can't restructure until after the trade has been completed. Only a few team have the money currently without cutting players.

He is from Miami so maybe he would like to finish his career here.
