Article - Top 5 Miami Dolphins OTA Storylines

Maybe coming out of the 6 players receive "homework" assignments and a few OTAs are waived to allow them time to complete that work independently. Just guessing. What I do know is that using only the 6 is a conscious decision with a purpose in mind. It's not simply to satisfy player or coach convenience.
this is a joke right? and no you do not know this you are speculating, to justify your own preconceived notions

I think 15 teams will use 6 OTA days this season. A few use less than 6. Only 7 teams use all 10 days.

OTA’s are mostly meant to get guys acclimated, rookies introduced to the team’s process, and some classroom time. No hitting, no pads. There is some walk through.

And just because most coaches choose to use 6 of 10 doesn’t mean players aren’t doing anything. Especially the rookies and new teammates. A lot of coaches choose to take 3-4 of the OTA days and spend them strictly with rookies. This gives the coaches more time with the younger/new guys.

I don’t think there is any evidence that supports 4 or 6 or 8 or 10 OTA’s are the best way to do things.

we are not most teams. there is a specific set of issues here that having more OTAs would probably go a long way to help. it is not necessarily what is done during those OTAs either. it is the coach making a statement that things will be different this year. more hard work and less of the soft stuff. change in attitude and culture. if you want to base everything on what most teams do, well by definition, most teams are average.

Bs Dano, OTAs are for coaches to do install and work in new techniques and team unity

Don’t justify the stupid decision for this coach to only use 6 of 10

If any team should use all ten its us.

His ass talks all the time about “ IF YOU WANNA CHANGE THE NARRATIVE THEN SHUT UP AND SHOW THE ACTION TO REVERSE IT.”

Yeah no, ridiculous organizational decision

I don’t know why this has to be said a million ****ing times.

As opposed to speculating that the professionals running the team don't care or baby the players or are afraid of injuries or want to lose? My speculation is just to counter what I see as automatically negative speculation. But at least I couched it as such.

lol that’s a good one man have to give you credit, the ultimate excuse to avoid practicing together during a 7 month hiatus .

It’s a joke and folks need to call his ass out on it.
Because....they want to lose? Is that it?

Not really. At least when looking at it from a vet’s perspective. OTA’s serve 2 main purposes for vets. It allows the coaches to see who is in shape and who needs to get in shape. And it’s the time these players start to get familiar with new plays and play calls. Then there is film study from the previous year, and meetings.

Even when we hear about HC’s who use all 10 days of OTA’s, it’s rare that all vets will attend all 10 days. Andy Reid holds 10 OTA’s. 4 offensive staters didn’t show up to the first one. Kelce and Hollywood Brown being two of the vets who didn’t. And after OTA’s Reid holds the rest of the offseason workouts virtually.

OTAS are teaching technique and fundamentals centric

Every minute counts

I saw it work for the Bengals in the 1970-80 period where they went to the Superbowl twice. That happened after they brought in a new HC named Forest Gregg.

He was asked by the media what he was going to do with the teams QB problem (sound familiar). His answer is burned into my memories - "no one can throw lying on their back!" At that time, they had an all pro center. In his first season Gregg brought in two significant offensive lineman that started in their first year. Their names were Munoz and Montoya. The rest is history.

Does this start to sound somewhat familiar? - LOL
It does. But it was 1981 and 1989 they went to the SB. Sam Wyche was coach for the ‘89 team. But your point stands. Munoz and Montoya changed that team’s fortunes.
