`EXOTIC SMASH-MOUTH'

''You run the football well, you play-action well and third down is a big package,'' Maddox said Sunday. ``As he likes to call it, it's an exotic smash-mouth offense. You're going to run the ball, you're going to be physical, but that's not all you're going to do.''

BALANCED OFFENSE

But the other element is that Mularkey puts a premium on run-pass balance. Even this year, as the Bills struggled to win games, they still passed the ball only 53 percent of the time. Former offensive coordinator Scott Linehan's offense was closer to 60 percent pass during his first four years in the NFL with the Dolphins and Minnesota.

With Mularkey coordinating the duo of Williams and Ronnie Brown, the Dolphins could end up with approximately 450 rushing.

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/football/13696337.htm Can our offensive line play smash mouth ?There is some good stuff about QBs too,Who do you think we will end up with.Cutler will be gone by the time we pick.I think we bring in a veteran and draft a lower tier QB

"The Tennessee Titans, who have the No. 3 overall pick, were so intrigued by Cutler that they have already started to ask around about how far they could possibly trade down and still end up getting him."

Uh-oh, there goes our fan favorite if Tenn doesn't want to pay for Young. Even worse, it means Young could fall to the Jets. That would really suck.

Not necessarily

The team that trades down may take Young

Then the titans may take Cutler

I doubt that the Titans will trade to the Jets spot to take Cutler, and whoever they do trade with may be looking at Young. And who knows if the jets are done with pennington yet

Of the QB's thaat they mention only Whitehurts and Croyle are posible for us imo...or I should say, they're the only 2 that I like other than Cutler of course but he'll be gone.....in the later rounds I still like Josh Betts and also Reggie Mackneal(sp?)of Texas A&M.

Ozzy rules!!

If the Jets draft Vince Young... I will be jumping on my couch in celebration...

The other quarterbacks participating in the game are Charlie Whitehurst of Clemson, Brodie Croyle of Alabama, D.J. Shockley of Georgia, Michael Robinson of Penn State and Darrell Hackney of Alabama-Birmingham. All of them will be on the Dolphins' draft radar.

got that from the article........ out of all those guys? which would fit us best? who would you like to see in a dolphin uniform if we had to pick from them???

this quickly turned from who would best fit our system to another QB draft thread.

The thing that excites me is if Mularky made a successful system out of Kordell Stewart, Tommy Maddox and EVEN Drew Bledsoe :) then we are in good shape.

What I like about this system is the emphasis on the running game and how we can use our backs, which is a strength of our team, similar to Pitt's. To me it seems like Saban is building a tough, hard-nosed team that teams don't like to play against - similar to the Steelers, and Mularkey's offense may be a better fit than Linehan's.Though I think Linehan helped generate an excellent improvement in our O from the previous regime, I like what I hear now better.

Mularkey QB's have this in common:

1) Can move around in the pocket and can roll out to the left or right to throw a pass.

2) Not only do they check down the WR's they check up. Check up meaning that they look for the quick pass first, then downfield. Example: Kordell looks to Hines Ward first (in our case Booker) who is 5-15 yards downfield on a quick hit if nothing available looks down field to Plax (in our case Chambers) for the longer throw. Alot of teams check down meaning they look for the long ball first, then the shorter passes. This advantage of doing both is that the other team cannot always assume you will look for the long ball first then the short, making it harder to defend. Also increases the chance someone will bite on the pump fake....how? Simple, if your checking up then you can pump fake to the shorter pass then throw the long ball. If teams know you always check down then they know that the pump fake will be to the long ball WR.
