Article - Why Dolphins stick with wildcat/wildpat

Actually I want to see Pat White lined up as Wr and swing around and take the ball from Ricky while someone goes deep and he throws it deep. lol maybe I'm hoping for it too much.

The Wildcat is working fine. Why should we not stick with it?

The Pat Package, or whatever the are calling that miserable waste of a pick and his package is like giving up a play. Every time Pat White comes into the game, I go.."Oh good. We didn't need this down anyway."

I think until Pat learns how to be a QB in this league, his package will always be a running style formation and a pass is more of a trick play.

I think I hate Pat White more than I hated Cleo Lemon. Atleast Lemon only cost a 5th round pick.

Hate is such a vial word. Do you really 'hate' or are just 'disappointed in'...

At least Lemon was given a chance to succeed or fail. White has not been given that chance. What I fear is that he will end up somewhere, where he will be given a chance, and will put all the naysayers in regret. He could just as well fail wherever he goes too. 1,2 or 3 plays a game proves nothing. The kid could be a serious weapon, and just like Henne, has learned from the QB coach and been educated by Pennington. Right now he is a Dolphin.

Be a fan. Looks at the possibilities. What the heck are you guys gonna say if he comes in and nails some passes, runs some significant yards and even lines up like Henne did in the WC, on the outside, and makes some yards. He's not a wide receiver, so give it up.

This is an old argument, gone over by me and others, but is not a 'wasted' pick until he proves he can contribute nothing to the offense. Next year may be his shot or maybe someone will pick him up on a trade for some draft picks, and many of you will complain about how the Fins used the next round.

Man this gets old. You work with what you have, to the best of your/their ability. Get over yourselves. If you can do a better job, tell your boss you're gonna quit and knock on Parcells door.

While i agree its far to soon to say its a wasted pick, i completely disagree with the chance that he has not been given a chance to succeed.
He was given that chance in training camp, he was given that chance in weekly practices, and hes been giving that chance during games. Right now, he hasnt stepped up.
When he does start completing those passes during the game(which i believe he will, he accuracy in college was great), i have no doubt well be putting him in more and more.

If he ends elsewhere ill wish him the best, the guy seems to be a class act, so i wouldnt have a problem with him having a good career. Would i regret what could have been? Well, depends on what we have with Henne.

What were his results in training camp? Weekly practices? What the heck are you talking about? Why would that apply to real world, game time playing? He's been put in, so obviously they think he is capable of something. His passing has been questionable but, as many have argued, we don't have a WR corps that can catch. So is it him or his receivers? That has been many an argument FOR Henne. I do remember White running quite a nice play, up the middle for 30 yards. If we're going to base his passing ability on a few throws, sounds like he's a hell of QB option runner, based on that, huh?

Simple: if he cant complete passes in practice, why do you expect him to complete passes during games. And how about those real world game time playing results? His accuracy has been off, during the Falcons game we had a sure fire touchdown to Ginn that he overthrew. The argument for Henne has been based on wideouts dropping catchable passes(see, Saints game), with White the wideouts need the chance to drop the ball and not be overthrown or have passes all over the place.

And i never questioned his ability or potential, i questioned his results so far. The NFL is littered with players with potential...players that never fulfill it. Im all about giving him time to develop, i just dont like the "grass might be greener on the other side" argument. Right now, he hasn't earned his chance to show he can do more during games, and you start earning that chance everyday in practice.

Valid points.

I believe he needs some serious downs before some get so passionate about him being a 'wasted pick'.
You obviously are a bit more reasonable about the whole thing and recognize the talent and potential.
I get tired of the bitc*ing.

You won't see me use asterisks often.

Pat White is making more of an impact this year then Chad Henne did his rookie year but no one called him a "wasted pick" now did they?

I understand that Pat White should not have been picked where he was. This coaching staff thought Pat White could add another element to the "wildcat" offense. While that's true it's yet to happen. Still doesn't make him a bust. QBs usually take YEARS to develop. Most of the time a QB only steps on when they play on a really ****ty team, see Atlanta last year and Detroit this season.

Pat White is fine.

HELLO?? He's a rookie! Why are we labeling rookies a bust in their first year? You wanna know who was a bust so far for this regime?

John Nalbone, J.D Folsom, Shawn Murphy, honorable mention: Patrick Turner
I cant even say Turner is a bust yet as I haven't even seen him play yet.
Thats not bad drafting so far for the regime. The John Nalbone pick was just completely horrible.. Dont draft TE's if their not gonna be all around useful to your offense. Folsom was as well..Murphy was a safe pick that just didnt pan out. At draft day you have to think of what the regime was thinking. Wildcat = us. Wildcat = success. Wildcat = reinventing the future. Wildcat = getting play makers involved.

This is the direction we were thinking. Im pretty sure they took a look at other qbs as well in the draft because we NEEDED to draft a qb, we had no depth there. The Pat White pick seems so obvious now. It didn't to many here because you got trapped in this whole Bill Parcellsian draft type players..i.e BIG physical linebackers, Defensive ends.. and Oline..Well guess what..we pretty much went offensive and defensive this year after drafting 2 top corners a line backer and a safety. We picked up a QB, 2 WRs, a TE, an OT. This draft I believe we will go offensive drafting wrs and a te and prolly more oline. Then pick up some defensive free agents, prolly another linebacker, a nose tackle, and another corner and or safety.

We didnt use pat much this year because for one..Ronnie runned the wildcat perfectly. Dont get it twisted, Pat White was brought here to pass out of the gun. You dont want to let a rookie just go out there and air it out...especially with our wrs. Nobody is airing anything out if you noticed. Even if Pat White doesnt start for us any at all..It shouldnt or wouldnt be a wasted pick as we are still using him and using him as a rookie whether its handing off or running ...whether you like the plays or not...is not a bust... He wasnt drafted in the first round so I dont see why everyone is looking for the guy to fail.. It's as if you initally wanted him to fail, He hasnt lit it up, and your happy about that... if he starts lighting it up..there will be other excuses.."he cant take a hit"..."he looks funny running"..."he can barely see over the line"
you guys can bicker about wasted picks and this and that, but drafting pat this yr could be the difference in us not drafting a qb in this upcoming draft.

Pat White is fine.

Oh Man. Be careful. This could open up a whole can of worms on the White 'haters'. I think the kid is talented and hasn't been given his 'shot' but many here think that he is a 'wasted pick'. just check the postings. It's sick...

The kid has 'proven' talent. "Oh but not in the NFL" some say. Gimme a break. 4 bowl games... against significant teams... collegiate records... oh don't get me going.

I was accused of being a "racist" in a personal post. They didn't have the guts to sign their name on my comments relating to White. There's an example of irrational posters. I don't see 'color', I see benefit to the team and talent.

Does it scare some of you he could be a more efficient and dangerous quarterback than Henne? Yes... Others know that value, leadership, talent, intelligence and response under pressure represent a possible asset to the Dolphins franchise.

Is Henne out? NO! But he has been inconsistent. OK, go ahead make excuses, blame the WR's, TE's, OL, whatever. Don't look at color people, look at benefit to the franchise.

Or don't. Take your opinionated selves and stay on the Henne train.

Again, if he were to bring it on and helps wins happen, leads, take responsibility and sacrifice himself where would you all be?

Still complaining or showing your aqua colors?
