Seroius question after reading many of the debates that makes it seem that being a fan its very hard to get an objective debate comparing players.
The Taylor Rice poll was so lopsided I was even suprised even though I knew Taylor would win and think he is slightly better although I suspect the fan in me helps make that decision. I also saw the Bush- Brown poll and thought it might be a little closer but I guess we are also have the disadvantage and advantage of Ronnie playing already.

As a SF fan which I am not I think they could make every bit the case that Frank Gore is better than Ronnie Brown based on YPC and he had one less td and had only one less run of over 20 yards. This from a back that only started 1 game and was also impressive catching the ball. I don't really bring this up to cause a flame war, just wondering if any really believe they can be unbiased in cases where there is some debate, not areas like is Ronnie better than SHaun and I would bet that Ronnie would get some votes.

As long as the game does not involve the fins then i'm unbiased. And now that we are out of the playoffs i am pretty nonbiased also...

The fins are like the bad kid in the family. No matter what they do i always see their potential and not what they really are... i guess that makes me a homer...sigh...

Taylor-rice poll?

Ronnie better than Shaun? Shaun Alexander? Not yet! Walter Peyton himself wasn't much as a rookie.

I think your question was can we be unbiased when it comes to our team and players? It's ver difficult for me. Though I do try to look at potential offseason moves objectively as a buisness man. I think every fan finds it hard.

IMO a lot of people are homers. They're just good natured fans who care about their team. Their opinions sometimes might be pretty dumb, but it's their right. There's nothing wrong with believing in your team. Dedication is the way to go.

Hell, I'm a homer, but I did pick against us a few last year. Can't win 'em all

Probably not, i live in the uk so get to see pretty much every team in a full game some teams (usually the good ones!) i see 7-8 times and don't catch the fins till later in the week so i feel i see enough of most teams to give a fair opinion as for the Rice vs Taylor poll it was always going to be that way because while i would say Taylor is better its very close and i could make just as good a case for voting for rice but since its close to 50-50 every fan is going to lean on there own player, as for is gore better than brown thats a senseless arguement since "spell" running backs always have better yards per carry and average more big plays because they are usually in in obvious passing situations and catch the defense off guard, see travis minors numbers backing up ricky a few years back if in doubt

I catch myself also I mean do I really think Marino is the best all time or is it because he was the last Qb my team has had.

I feel that I can be unbiased when discussing the Phins.

I do however, have a VERY hard time being unbiased when talking about the Jets. I can find the fault in anything/everything they have ever done......don't even get me started on how Joe Namath is in the HOF is the biggest joke of all-time and how the NFL/AFL fixed SB III.

Yes Namath in the hall of fame is a tremendous joke but winning a Super Bowl makes a qb get more fame than anything else.

Many here can't see past their Dolphin loyalties. You see it in the ridiculous RW threads. You see it in the no QB not named Manning or Palmer (pre-injury) is a franchise QB posts. Even players they've never seen play must suck based solely on (often irrelevant) stats. While Dolphin players that don't produce all have this incredible untapped potential. It's just the nature of team message boards.

Yeah, I'm biased to some extent. That's what being a fan of 1 team is all about. I'm not so biased as to blindly overlook deficiencies, though.

If you look at the overall "team" and not player to player that would be a better question of bias. It's easy to appear bias when talking individual players, but when you ask fans where they think the Fins rank in the league you'll get a much less bias opinion. I think most Fin fans realize we are what we are, a team on the rise.

I'll bet most fans during the six game winning streak weren't a 100% sure we would win every week coming down the stretch. We as fans could have gotten big heads and beat our chests, but I never got that from the threads . Mostly what I read was joy, excitment and happiness
from week to week at the end of the season, you want to talk about bias that could have been the breeding ground for bias. I guess what I'm trying to say is it does appear bias is a factor on every fan site, it's not like it's something obvious to the fans being bias it's more of a natural defence. Still, don't mistake confidence with bias. We know our team better then anyone else so when a fan from another team comes calling we may appear bias when it's more defence then bias. IMO!!

its hard to get a good feel when teeny-boppin' kids only re-ggurgitate what they hear on espn or rome or the front page of our own site.the other major detracor is people who dont even like the phins yet have very nifty fin-fan names and finally I guess theres guys like me people who love da fishys so blindly and yes biasedly, I've been called a rage a holic but always in defense of TEAM!!!
No if sage/cleo/Feely get to start I'm alowed to be angry theres NO future there. If some puts decides we can get Rw mcquarters for jason taylor I'm alowed to be angry at that persons stupidity AND I WILL. I love my team I dont over estimate thier ability I dont believe we have a shot EVRY YEAR But we might have FRICKIN' SHUT OUT BY THE BROWN EYE'S who saw that commin' Ya'll know thats the game that kept us out of the post season this year Right!?

I don't know. There were a ton of 12-4 predictions for this season (I even saw one or two saying we'd go undefeated). While nothing is impossible I would say those would not fall under the category of unbiased. Same for the game predictions. I would guess that every given week at least 80% are predicting a Dolphin win. While I agree that the homerism is worse for individual players IMO it extends beyond that.

Well I don't know about a "ton of 12-4 predictions", but you have to understand the year before our 4-12 season we were 10-6!! We were getting one of the most sought after HC's in the league. We got H.Houck and S.Linehan, we had good reason to be optimistc. I don't see that as bias as much as knowing the Fins weren't as bad as the 4-12 crap that was DW.
