As a long time fan it gives me NO pleasure to witness the further erosion of this (once) great franchise.

Before the season started my enthusiasm was VERY HIGH because I felt we had the right guy at the top (Saban) to bring this team back (eventually) to an elite position. But now, based on the product on the field, AND the personnel decisions behind the product, my enthusiasm has transformed into serious doubt.

To me, based on the product on the field and the general composition of the roster (i.e., lots of age with not a lot of young rising stars) this team appears to be YEARS away from being “elite.â€Â

Now, for the sake of optimism this could all change in the coming weeks. But with each passing game the probability of “reality†becomes more acute. And the “reality†right now seems to reveal a team lacking the necessary horsepower AND leadership to rise above the league flat-liners. Only “losers†lose other losing teams consistently week in and week out --- and we’ve certainly proven highly efficient at that so far.

At this point it’s in-your-face obvious this team was immensely OVERRATED going into the season. But it’s also fair to say that no reasonable evaluation of this team would have them at the very bottom either. So IMO the team is seriously underachieving, and guess WHO is 100% responsible for that?

yeaa ive been saying that also, there was really no indications in the beginning of the season and preseason to belive we would be in this position right now, we were obviously overrated being called one of the leagues top teams but we certainly should not be this bad or no one really should of truly of have expected it....this team is seriously underachieving like you said and the possibilities of comming back into playoff contention are from slim to none, really if we dont show up to play against a good NE team next week then you can seriously just say the that the fish are fried as much as it hurts me to say it

Like I've said before, the biggest mistake that I have seen Saban make is changing the O-Line from the line we had last year. I think we had a group last year that showed a huge improvement and would have been pretty strong this year.

What you people need to understand is that to rebuild a franchise to be great for years is more than just a 1 year project. I know that there are teams that have turned it around in 1 year, but they arn't worth a crap for the next 5. Saban is putting this puzzle together, and when its finished its going to be beautiful. This team is just a year or so from being getting the chemistry needed to be successful in the NFL. I'm not going to say this team is good right now, because from the play we arn't great. If you do take the mistakes though that we have away, this team is 3-1. Its been a hard year to be a fan, and I have questioned my fan status though this year. At the end of the day though, you have to love the fins. I still do.

More than the 1-3 record, which by itself is a sure indication of this team underachieving, and not to take into account the bad teams we’ve lost to, it’s seems 100% obvious this “team†lacks coherency from all directions. In other words, this group of players plays like they’ve been cut and pasted together with multiple personalities as opposed to a unified TEAM. This makes it really hard to “see†what the ultimate vision of Saban is all about. Prime example --- Ronnie Brown is your marquee player (at least he should be given his exalted draft position, salary and touted potential) so WHY (???) not IMMEDIATELY build your offensive identity around him --- meaning get 5 road graders on the OL and be a REAL “power running team.â€Â

Note: by “road graders†I mean the corn-feed Nebraska kind of bulldozers as opposed to the fat *** quarter-blunder-and-cheese we’ve got!

But no, rather than BUILD the horses up front to pull the wagon, we go out (keep in mind this is ALL about reBUILDING the TEAM from the ground-game up!) and get a crippled QB with OBVIOUS flaws in his game for a “bargain†2nd round pick. But of course our new QB is a fine lead blocker and can also play any position on the OL! Perhaps we could implement the winged T to maximize this awesome combination of talent?

Keep in mind…The LINE OF SCRIMMAGE is where it’s at if you want to be a solid team week in and week out. And while our DL is mostly comprised of players whose best years are well in the past, our OL is comprised of players whose best years reside in another profession!

So the prediction is easy --- until the Dolphins reBUILD their OL with REAL HORSES in stead of Jack ***** they shall remain in exile from the promised land!

Note the Jets this year and for years to come with the talent they grabbed on the OL!

Oh yea, we did invest a 4th round pick in an injury prone unproven OG who of course is currently on IR but may (???) be a player in a few ears. Sorry, we don’t need OL “projects†we need PLAYERS! REAL HORSES!!!

and guess WHO is 100% responsible for that

FINNER: you said it right!! an the blame is 100% the head coach,
one mr. nick saban!!

reading about his comment yesterday confirmed my feelings
about this guy all along and why i DID NOT WANT HIM as
coach of this team. he is an EXTREME ego maniac who
will never admit his mistakes or change ANYTHING that
is conected to a decision made solely by him.

and now he is pointing fingers and starting the name game.

It's only going to change when everybody decides, `I'm going to change. I'm going to do something different so I don't continue to get the same results,'" Saban said as his voice rose. "If you continue to do what you've always done, you're going to continue to get what you've always gotten. That's guaranteed."

great!! blaming EVERYONE but himself. so, i read along and he makes
this statement.....

Saban took responsibility for the poor start and said the burden for improvement begins with the coaches being better teachers and the
players being willing to learn, understand and change.

he starts out as if he is actually taking some responsability saying
the coaches need to teach better [true] but then the clincher....
...the 'ol circle game, the put dobt in there minds blame tactic.
he says...

"the players BETTER LEARN to understand and change"!!!

making sure the last statement is making them look like, hey,
were trying, but THEY refuse to learn.......

yep! we get it nick. those crappy players [which you are not
responsable for of course] just REFUSE to learn from your
unquestionable wealth of god like football knowledge.

hey! dont these guy realize that one time nick took michigan
state to a 9 win season? god guys, pay attention and learn
from the master!!!

LOL I think this post sums up my sig perfectly.

yea, lets question nick saban 3 games into his second season, remember what a trainwreck we were before he came in, in cap hell with no talent...

To me great teams have great defenses first. The Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears are both 4-0....WHY???? Because they have great defenses and decent offenses. Our defense is so so and our offense is horrible...you are not going to win many games with what we have. The two great guys that we have on defense (JT and Zach) are both getting old and cannot do it alone. I think we need to focus on building a great defense first, and go from there. Penn State has a couple of nice linebackers...start building this team back up by getting a great LB, some d-backs, then get some decent o-lineman....we could use help pretty much everywhere, but lets rebuild the defense first.
