- Eagles: I've heard that Howie Roseman is a real doofus and that Kelly wasn't 100% responsible for the dysfunction there, but I honestly don't know.
- Giants: That's a more attractive job, easily. One of the best jobs in football.
- 49ers: Are you kidding? Ownership situation there is easily worse. Source: everything that's happened in the last two years.
- Rams: Not sure, don't know enough about Kroenke.
- Chargers: Ownership is notoriously cheap. Front office is a mess there, too.
- Lions: Martha Ford is 92. Ownership uncertainty.
- Browns: Jimmy Haslam has the quickest trigger finger in the business. That might not be the worst thing for the Browns, but that isn't attractive for candidates.
- Colts: Jim Irsay is a drug-addled moron and Ryan Grigson is a disaster as GM. That team is one 3am collision with a light pole away from new ownership and a clean sweep.
- Titans: Worst team in football for how many years? Look at their ownership situation. You think it's worse than ours?
In summary, Steve Ross is a bad owner, but he's also shown that he is willing to back up the Brinks truck to pay talent, and that he will give people way too much rope to hang themselves with. The problem isn't that the job is unattractive, the problem is that the owner can't identify good hires. If you are just looking at ownership and front office, the Dolphins organization is right now a lot more attractive than several of those jobs, but especially the Lions, Titans, 49ers, and Browns. The only reason anyone would take the Colts job right now is Andrew Luck, period. And Luck sucked donkey dick this year.
Vaark, you do remember that the reason we couldn't land our first choices for GM in 2014 was that Ross wouldn't fire Philbin, right?
It ain't that dire. You are straight up insane if you think that we are a worse situation to walk into right now than the absolute MESS that is the 49ers or Titans. I'm actually going to go against the grain here and suggest that the job has become pretty attractive now. Mike Tannenbaum has big warts, but he's getting the entire organization on the same page with a clean sweep of HC and GM and he is good at closing deals.
The situation here is much better than you think. The problem remains that I don't trust the decision-makers to identify the best candidates for the job.
