Beam Me Up Outa Here!
.. cuz considering the owner who leaves his head coaches out to dry, hired a fired GM with no other league options as the VP of Football and has now named a search committee comprised of 1 GM failed league washout and a gaggle of non-football personnel, an imploding lockerroom (Tannenbaum's 2nd in 5 years) coupled with a figure head of a GM he'll have to work for/with/through.. IMO the Fins are doomed to get sloppy 10ths or the runt of the litter!

Please convince me that some of these possible alternatives that are or may come available are NOT more attractive than the Fins

Eagles
Giants
49ers
Rams
Chargers
Lions
Browns
Colts
Titans

Good luck to us, we're gonna need it.

Maybe we get lucky and all these teams rush to hire guys. The Bengals make a long run and when the dust settles there's nowhere else for Jackson to go than Miami.

trying not to be bias the only other teams i'd be interested in is eagles, giants, colts and maybe titans. we don't even know where the rams/chargers are playing. lol

Well we have one thing in our favor... we know Ross will roll out the red carpet and pay anything to get the top candidates. That doesn't mean we get one, but Ross will be willing to pay more than anyone else.

I'll bite.

Eagles
Giants
49ers
Rams
Chargers
Lions
Browns
Colts
Titans

- Eagles: I've heard that Howie Roseman is a real doofus and that Kelly wasn't 100% responsible for the dysfunction there, but I honestly don't know.

- Giants: That's a more attractive job, easily. One of the best jobs in football.

- 49ers: Are you kidding? Ownership situation there is easily worse. Source: everything that's happened in the last two years.

- Rams: Not sure, don't know enough about Kroenke.

- Chargers: Ownership is notoriously cheap. Front office is a mess there, too.

- Lions: Martha Ford is 92. Ownership uncertainty.

- Browns: Jimmy Haslam has the quickest trigger finger in the business. That might not be the worst thing for the Browns, but that isn't attractive for candidates.

- Colts: Jim Irsay is a drug-addled moron and Ryan Grigson is a disaster as GM. That team is one 3am collision with a light pole away from new ownership and a clean sweep.

- Titans: Worst team in football for how many years? Look at their ownership situation. You think it's worse than ours?

In summary, Steve Ross is a bad owner, but he's also shown that he is willing to back up the Brinks truck to pay talent, and that he will give people way too much rope to hang themselves with. The problem isn't that the job is unattractive, the problem is that the owner can't identify good hires. If you are just looking at ownership and front office, the Dolphins organization is right now a lot more attractive than several of those jobs, but especially the Lions, Titans, 49ers, and Browns. The only reason anyone would take the Colts job right now is Andrew Luck, period. And Luck sucked donkey dick this year.

Vaark, you do remember that the reason we couldn't land our first choices for GM in 2014 was that Ross wouldn't fire Philbin, right?

It ain't that dire. You are straight up insane if you think that we are a worse situation to walk into right now than the absolute MESS that is the 49ers or Titans. I'm actually going to go against the grain here and suggest that the job has become pretty attractive now. Mike Tannenbaum has big warts, but he's getting the entire organization on the same page with a clean sweep of HC and GM and he is good at closing deals.

The situation here is much better than you think. The problem remains that I don't trust the decision-makers to identify the best candidates for the job.

Im not sure thats true but it could be. Ross says he never offered Harbaugh a contract.

I think with the way the front office has been protrayed and still looks to coaches that are not here we are not that attractive. You cant really say he is giving a clean sweep at GM because it seems he had his hand in the gm pot last year and if he promotes from within Im sure he knows what he can get away with

I don't think it's the most attractive job in the world, but look at what Vaark is throwing out there. The Browns job is more attractive? Are you ****ting me?

Every Monday morning, Jimmy Haslam goes into his office, checks up on the latest information about Pilot Flying J's legal woes, and then plays darts with a board that has "FIRE SOMEBODY" written on 9 out of 10 spaces.

The Browns job is not more attractive I do agree Haslam is the worst owner in the league, I put ross definately in the bottom 10.

The same could be said for the Panthers & McDermott. Ideally, this is who I'd prefer.

The icing on the cake would be the Chargers move to LA and hire Mora, Jr... McCoy who worked w/ McDermott in Charlotte would then be available for the phins OC position.

I think if chargers move and they fire mccoy that they hire Hue Jackson who is from LA.

You make some valid points. It looks like the Eagles boards from what I can see, don't particularly like Roseman, but Jeff Lurie is the kind of owner we wish Ross had been. And that matters

Rams: stellar D to build around. Kroenke overspent for Fisher who brought in his own rubber stamp GM. If they're both gone, the new HC might be able to name his GM. In either case, If they relocate to LA, it will become a very attractive high profile job that would almost demand immediate success.. so consequently, Kroenke can easily outspend Ross if he's motivated to do so.

Chargers: you could be right; but if they also relocate to LA, there's some cachet involved in being the coach that turns it around. And they do have Rivers

Lions: Wholely depends on who the consultants helping Martha decide is the GM. If he's a slam dunk, working for and thru him compared to Tannenbum is a no brainer. They also have some pretty good offensive skill players on which to build

Browns: you are probably correct.. although it's a crapshoot between whether they're worse than the Fins in general.. but they could be and their owner is comparable

Colts: Luck was injured this year. Grigson may be gone. If a good GM comes in, he'll attract a good HC before tannenbum and his rubber stamp will. Irsay will pay and although he's a junkie, he's passionate about the team and generally stands by his people.. unlike the Fins, so I don't even think that's a wash

Titans: you're right, except, if you think Chip Kelly is worth going after, he might well be off the board wanting to work again with Mariota...which makes the degree of suckage between them and us moot.

I'm sorry but I can't see a high prospect HC respecting the vision of Tannenbum, nor can I see them not wincing when vetted by people who know **** about football and recalling how Ross tried to hire a better coach who was becoming available while leaving his existing one embarrassingly out to dry. :idk:

I agree I think our fog of war structure is going to chase off most top shelf candidates

Vaark and J.D. are both correct. As it stands the Dolphins are not a very attractive destination for a HC or GM but there are worse.

Hopefully a shiit load of Ross's money can get someone that has a chance to succeed. Who that is i haven't a clue.

Any top HC or GM will want guaranteed money - "crazy" money...and 10 years guaranteed. I know I would.
