When a player is "waived/injured" during the preseason he no longer counts against the team's 80-man roster limit. This applies only to players who have less than 4 years of NFL service and only during the preseason. If it's a player like Vernon Carey who another team would claim off waivers even while injured, the Dolphins would place him directly on IR and lose a roster spot. There's no additional financial considerations involved either way (you're confusing this with an injury settlement). Got it?

    Question for ya Brett.....

it was reported on WQAM that Spielman was yelling at Drew in the lockerroom tonight. About the O-Gun trade and getting it done.

Has a GM ever yelled at you in the middle of the lockerroom in front of everyone? If so, give us the juicy details! lol

    Brett,

I am a fellow Brett, and a Movie Producer, who happens to be a Die Hard Phin Fan. I have an upcoming South Florida Major Production happening in March of 2005. I am really wanting to get a player or two involved in production, because the film does touch on the Dolphins at times. Do you personally think any of your clients might be interested in possibly having a small role, probably playing themselves in this film (PG-13). Thanks for your time.

    Producer Brett-

I've had a few heated conversations over the years, but never in public.

Just wondering your thoughts on the Ricky situation Brett ? ? ? I myself would trade him immediately for a player of impact that would help the team, already having something worked before I even let him come back. I know their is a longshot by league guidelines he could come back this year, how long of a shot is it and what would have to happen. With all Miami's hard luck this year, it would seem IF Miami wanted him back that they (NFL) might try to help them a little in this. But what do I know, LOL Your thoughts my friend ? Thanks as always Brett

You still diggin' the Ogunleye trade??

I think Booker is going to suprise Dolfans. And I'm happy that we got a pick. 1st and 3rd IMO.

    Brett,

Can you give us an idea what's its like to be an agent at different times of the year.

Like when do you focus on recruiting? When do you mostly do contracts? Things like that. Is there an 'offseason' for agents... do you get to vacation?

Or is there no set pattern and no idea what tomorrow will bring?

    thx!

There are so many conflicting reports about the whole Ricky Williams situation (length of suspension, signing bonus, etc.). Without knowing every specific detail myself, I think it would be hard for him to ever come back and play for the Dolphins.

I said a few weeks ago that I thought they should trade him even though it was going to be a buyer's market. While the Bears got the better end of the deal, I still think the Dolphins made the correct move.

Hi Brett,do you think that Jarrett Payton is an option to pick up as RB for the Phins?

Not really. The phins are overstacked with some nasty hitters at LB so much so that they might keep 8. The only real problem with the special teams that McG could have helped with is veteran presence. All the guys that are playing ST's this year are going to be very young.

McGarrahan is an excellent flyer on punts. The LBs probably don't have the same speed as Scott either. Plus, being young guys.....they're probably going to make mistakes and commit penalties, where the veteran McGarrahan was less likely to do so.

    Hey Brett,

End all of this speculation for us. What is Rick and the FO going to do about this RB situation? My guess is that he'll pick someone up off of the trash heap, Wanny will incorperate some more passing in the O and Miami will make a run at one of the big FA RB's next year. What do you hear?

Every day of my life is a vacation because I love what I do. The most downtime I have every year is between the months of May and September. There's never a time when I'm officially "off-duty" as I need to be available to my clients 24/7. If I want to go somewhere I can do it as long as I have my cell phone with me and a fax machine nearby. My busiest time of the year is from the start of recruiting all the way through the draft. March and April are two months of pure hell (but I love it).
